Do gauges add or detract from the classic Monster design?

I was thinking about getting rid of my gauge with a Motogadget Mini. I already run the Motogadget Classic, which reduces the number of gauges from the stock two to a single face. My CNC Racing triples have a little threaded, routed out place to accept risers or bars, which would fit a Motoscope mini perfectly and essentially make the gauge invisible to everyone except the rider. However, I'm not sure eliminating the guage makes the bike look better, or worse? I love getting comments about how my bike is "going to be great when it's finished," but would moving to an invisible gauge make it look too incomplete? Or is the point of the classic monster to keep removing things from it until it stops running?
What I have now:

What I could switch to:

I think the 'mini' only would make sense on a very very minimalistic and very very custom build... perhaps an extremely naked cafe racer... for example one or two of Flight Cycles bikes or Motocreations' DesmoDevil

Readability counts, at least for me. I like a large, round gauge with a needle, particularly for the tach.

is the way I would go.

My bike is that clean; the only things stock about it are the motor, frame, and swingarm - everything else has been replaced. The harness is custom running Motec, the tank is a one-off from ETI, Ohlins all around, etc. The bike weighs about 330 lbs wet.

I'm out of step with the whole world here, but I like the original old style dash of the carbed bikes when there is no headlamp fairing and dual gauges when there is. I think Galluzzi got it right first time.

I have a 2016 ducati monster 821, I'm swaping my stock gauge with the motoscope mini guage. The bike has 3 different modes, Tour, Ubran, Sport.
Are these modes related to the stock guage in any way, will I lose the capability to switch between these modes with the moto scope guage installed?
or
Will I still be able to switch between the modes without the display showing which one I am in?

Five hundred and ninety American dollars for a single round gauge.
The M695 is the only monster I was ever going to buy - the last one with a standard headlight and two analog style gauges. I'll get off here.

I would have to agree that the 695 had an almost perfect style to it. If I still had it, I would swap it out with a mini gauge for a cleaner look.

A little hard to see, but the s4rs has the gold motoscope mini and it definitely goes really well with the minimalistic look (granted it's not an air-cooled monster).
