Dropped spark to the rear cylinder of my old M900. The white wire in the Ignitech loom which either receives or sends info re the rear pot had come loose and been arcing. It didn't have much wire crimped into the female pin. The male pin in the unit was burned from arcing and this must have taken out a component in the board.
I picked up a unit Brad had left over in stock and fitted it the now latest V88 model.
A mate of mine versed in advanced electrickery will do some forensics and I'll get some picks up.
It's the kind of thing that can take out an oem Kokusan so fair enough it damaged "half" the Ignitech.

I progammed in a map for high comp/advanced cams and smooth low rpm and was reminded how cool these little jiggers are. You can add and subtract a degree here and there to cure little stumbles and misses while you set the low rpm response to your taste.

What are the pros and cons between V80 and V88?

Asking as I inquired with Ignitech what the cost to upgrade to V88 and I got a price of USD $183. Costs from Ignitech below:

New TCIP4 standard - Ducati Kokusan modification = $128 USD.

Connector adapter = $4 USD.

Recommended accessories is USB/COM cable for connection with PC = $14 USD

Freightage DHL = $37 USD

I dont see any advantage of the V88 over the V80 for our bikes if you already have one. Brad may have said some other bikes might benefit or the V88 works on a greater range of bikes iirc. Not 100% sure.
The advantage over the stock Kokusan boxes is substantial. Smoothness, a pony or two more from tuning, more tractability/drivability, a rev limiter, shift light capacity, tunability for your mods and tuning for fuel availability are some of the benefits. The upgrade is in tuning the system imo.

The burned pin marked. Will have more pics when me mate dissects the unit. It may be repairable.

The only difference between The two are a 16 bit processor in the v88. So perhaps a bit quicker when tuning on the laptop. All essentials remain the same, rev limiter tach output ability to run hall effect pickups etc

Thanks. That is what I suspected.

Yes the laptop tuning and interface was very quick. I didnt even click on to the programme as the laptop went into immediate device recognition. Really easy and more user friendly than previous versions. The quickest map tuning to date ime.

Koko, what is your source for these nowadays? Liam at Fastbikegear NZ? or direct with IG? If I do stick with carbs I'd HATE to lose my Uotani box with propriotary coils. Its not programmable like the IG, more like the Silent Hektic unit with various preset maps. But it kicks ass.

I get mine from Bikeboy (Brad Black).  I just snagged the last one he had in stock. Pm me and I'll give you the name of an unofficial US supplier. I guess the NZ distributor handles oceania supply.

Another ignition option besides Ignitech and Silent Hektic:

I love mine. 10 preset "maps" , an infinite rev limiter, and it comes with new coils.

Looks like a nice option.
