They look very similar.... I can see different routing for the 'airbox' coil, I see different connector(s) in the lower middle of the pictures.....

Any experience with non-original harnesses? (the particular 1000 harness in question is new and affordable)

S2R1k has an O2 sensor in the udder, your S2R800 did not, I wager.

My '07 did, but it was deleted when the race ECU was installed.

Ignition coil connectors are different as the DS has the dual-outlet coils.  Otherwise, I **think** it'd work fine.

, but still two wires? Any idea if those connectors are available?

The look and number of connectors in the lower middle of the pictures puzzle me. Maybe it doesn't matter much - I have deleted the 02 and side stand.

How about the ECU connectors....  good reason to think all pins are in the same positions?

My other option is to get a used harness for my model, but brand new is tempting.

Not sure if the 800 coil connectors are available anywhere.  Both are 2-wires BTW.  Maybe you could re-use your old ones?

Pin-outs?  That's where I'd spend the most amount of time making sure all's well...

The wire diagrams list the pins in different order between the two. I don't know if that means they are also in different positions in the plugs themselves.

The pins on the ECU are same positions, IE "Body1" is the same pin on both ECU's.

S2R1000 has the idle air valve as well, S2R800 does not.

Don't put a whole lot of stock in the Parts Catalogue images, there's cut and paste that's gone on and the images do not always match the hardware.

I've been looking at the wire diagrams in the owner's manuals - that's where I saw the different order. You're sure the pins are the same?
