Confirming 2 things

1) Any compatibility issues with 848 EVO Brembo Monoblocks and a monster 1100 EVO?

2) It it worth doing? I have spiegler lines and those helped significantly. I'm curious to know if anyone here has had experience with Brembo monoblocks in lieu of 2-piece WITHOUT messing with the stock master cylinder

3) Speaking of the master cylinder, is the 848 EVO master cylinder any different than the 1100 EVO?

I would rate new and well bled fluid MUCH higher than that mod - also thinking that new lines were less important. Little wrong with stock 1100 Evo lines.

Ducati sell bikes with monoblocks not because it's sensible or better, but because a majority of buyers want it. Again, well bled systems (difficult enough on ABS systems) and pads chosen and 'tuned' to the actual riding means much more than dual- or monoblocks.

Masters probably the same - or close enough.

I love modifications, but see too many meaningless changes by riders without the skills to ever evaluate what they did. Not aimed at you. I don't know if you fall into this or that category. What about impressive and confidence inspiring suspension?

My brake  bleeds are perfect. Primarity because I add banjo breeders on the ABS units. I'm not lacking brake performance but I have the option of picking up some monoblocks for around 250. Trying to find out if its worth it. Sounds like it might not be.

The difference isn't noticeable for most of us, but can be worth a tenth of a second here or there for a very skilled racer - who will gain a LITTLE more control = smoother = faster.

So, it's really a question of how close to that level you/we are  ;)

Of course.... 250 for bling isn't for me to criticize  8) , but cast monoblocks maybe not... hmm... how about billett monoblocks?

Interesting. Are they the same as HM1100S and HM1100 EvoSP calipers? For the price you could try them and sell on the calipers you didn't prefer. Curious what you find. I wonder if a different master cylinder could give you what you need re feel or power?

I have been playing with pad material and found a stark difference with disc compatibility. It's the first time I have had too much braking power for the feel available (94 M900). I went back to organic pads. Maybe a more aggressive sintered pad might do the trick if you want more bite (I bet you have already tried that). I also found a marked increase in power after correctly honing the discs when installing new pads which was greater then I expected. I scotchbrited/steel scoured discs previously which worked fine but I recently got a rotary hone brush and felt the difference (you probably already have one).

Fwiw, road testers said the braking on the Hypermotard 1100/Evo S and SP models was too aggressive for the street and prefered the standard calipers of the base model which your Evo Monster has. I guess it's because those bikes didnt have ABS. I did notice a different master cylinder part number to match the fancy calipers and that could have accounted for the difference in braking power.

Banjo bleeders on the ABS unit is an excellent idea and should have come standard. I'll remember that, thanks.

Interesting to see how you go.

I'm not up to date at all on the current caliper configurations, so no FHE here.

HOWEVER, a caliper with broad pad options is a huge plus, especially if that carries forward for a longer timeframe.

Is there a difference in the piston diameter, etc?  That will primarily dictate pressure vs. MC type.

I followed this thread closely, this guy has done everything first to his monster as I've done to mine.

Before I bought my 1198 I was searching to do this mod to my 09' 1100S. With my riding style, and my weight, I felt the limitations of the stock brakes. The progressive feel of monoblocks vs. the almost on/off, than fade of the stock monster brakes are worth the switch. I ended up switching the stock monster pads to Ferodo ST and the improvement was enough for me to hold off the search for mono blocks...

I thought the stock lines were steel braided - so how does installing Spieglers make any difference?

The stock monster lines will not bolt up to the monoblocks.
