10W 40 Synthetic Oil Question (another)

Open question on Lucas 10w 40 synthetic with moly (for all & Georgecls; aka George the oil engineer expert:); sorry had to ask; theres new oil out there ...

Okeee; read through the oil sticky; am now re-convinced that synthetic is better than mineral.  I've tried 10w 40 generic mineral in a newer built s2r 1k ds motor;  seems to run hotter at 220 F after 1/2 hr run time, (is that a normal run temp?;   (1k has a dry clutch; so no issues with oil being too slick for the clutch just looking for the right 10w 40 synthetic that will mesh gears nice and keep er running cooler)

On another 800 I've tried 15w 50 synthetic and also 10w 40 mineral in same bike; seemed to run cooler with mineral 10w 40; but I see that 10w 50 is too thick and causes loss of power and higher run temps.

SOOOO went looking for 10W 40 synthetic; to a couple of moto stores and an auto store and found 10w 40 synthetic is hard to find. Found a Lucas motorcycle 10w 40 synthetic good for wet clutches; but also found and bought but have not put in yet;  improved auto 10w 40 synthetic with moly (assumed that was molybdenum). Anyone used this? thoughts; opinions?. [popcorn]

Not recommend to use auto oil due to the anti-friction for energy saving . . . Might lead to clutch slippage

You may not know, but George passed away several years ago.

You definitely don't want oil containing moly, or any friction modifier, in your wet clutch bike.

oh! ach, sorry to hear about George, remember something about that, rip.

s2r 1000 with dry clutch  ;); I understand that auto oil with modifiers is too slick for wet clutches.
So was wondering since I had a dry clutch if there's less concern / issues?

Missed part of your post...sorry.

It probably won't hurt anything, but if you believe what George said (and I do), with a Group 4 or 5 synthetic the moly is just snake oil. Is the Lucas Group 4 or 5?

Find some Mobil 1 or Klotz...or not...your bike...your choice.

You have trouble finding Mobil 1 Racing 4T? Probably one of the more common oils out there, it's even at my local autoparts store.
