I added the oil cooler from a 796 Hyper to my M695 with good results - it has five rows of cooling fins and is used on other air/oil cooled models from the early 2000s.  I see that back in the 90s the 750/900 Monsters and Supersports used a cooler with nine rows of fins, built in a frame or housing.  Are these earlier ones more effective?  They look a bit thicker as well...

Thanks

The early coolers were a little bit too effective. In weather below 45 degrees the bike would never get warm, and a cover was required to get the bike up to temp.

True. I'm running a cover right now. The oil cooler does a great job in Summer.

I do a great job in summer too, but 45º - that's like the temp inside my refrigerator!   8)

I imagine a carbureted bike might not run well when cold, but with the Fat Duc on this 695 I can't tell any difference.  I don't push it until I see around 150º on the display.  On a 70º day I'll see 175º - 180º cruising at 65 mph, get on it a bit in the curves and it'll go up to 190º - 195º, sit at a stoplight, 205º - 210º.  Sure varies a lot with the ambient air temp.
