Can an oil cooler be run upside down?  There are several that mount to the upper valve cover, but the better looking one is the curved aluminum one from the S4 and ST3/ST4, which mounts to the lower valve cover.  Could I use that one mounted to the upper valve cover on my M695 in an upside down orientation?  It would have the hose fittings at the bottom of the side tanks instead of at the top...

It would more or less empty itself. Don't know if that is problematic...

Have you checked the width and hardware you need?

If it was me, I'd hang it from the lower cover (from an SS)  Cool

There's more room in the upper position, better air flow over the top of the fender, and it's out of the dirt or spray from the front wheel.
I've seen some custom installations online where the cooler is upside down...

Some of the superbike coolers have both inlet and outlet on the same side - how can that work?  Are there baffles in the side tanks to direct the flow?
