My S2r 1000 had full arrow exhaust on it when I bought it but I'm looking into getting a ceramic coated Quat D exbox system. How many of you run the Quat D? What are your thoughts on it?

I've run the Quat D since around 2007. Love it!

Pretty sure there are pics floating around here....or on Google.

I ran the bare udder for about a year before that, which was kind of loud....

I have news for you...

the Quat-D is loud, also. :-*

Seriously though,....it's got nothing on the bare udder. I used to get done with a ride and feel a little disoriented from the noise....even with ear protection.

I know they look badass. I've heard the arrow exhaust I have now is louder than Quat d.

I don't think it needs to be louder. Just my opinion though....

I don't think it needs to be louder either. I have just heard about a few corrosion issues and have seen some gnarly Quat ds that we're only a few years old. Must have just been horrible maintenance on those since no one here has mentioned that yet.

FWIW (not much really, as it's *my* ears) I think the Arrows sound better than a QD. Thunder > Blatting.

Arrows though, take up more space than the QD.
And the QD allows a really cool look from the rear.

I'd consider the Arrows better in fitment.
Not surprising though, I've not seen anything come straight out of the box better than Arrows.

The QD seem to need specific tuning to get the most from them.
All in all, not a bad idea on an S2R1k if you can baseline it with set valve clearances, cam timing, etc.

Full Arrow shotgun style surpasses Quat D ExBox in all areas. Sound, look, power, build quality, cachet, everything. My opinion of the Quat D ExBox is that it looks like a homemade udder. Also I'd never pay for something that shortchanges me on power. That's stupid in my view. But to each his own right [Dolph]

Never noticed diminished power with my Ex Box. But I also only rode the bike twice with stock before changing it up.

And...... It's got plenty of power, no matter what the pipes are.

I guess it just comes down to what the individual is looking for in replacement pipes.
