Decent review. Sounds impressive.

Now, where's that sportbike they've been taunting us with???

Wow! Sounds like Harley has a contender in a category I never would have imagined. Nice work.  [Dolph]

(edit) And shoot me for a heretic, but hydraulic valves sound delightful.

When you work on your own bikes (and others), hydraulic valves are appreciated.

Might be the best bike Harley has ever built besides the XR750. Both built for purpose.

My search engine skills have been found wanting, but I distinctly remember a Peter Egan column from the late 70s (probably?) begging HD executives to listen to the engineers & designers at the company - not to mention customers - who desperately wanted Harley to create a road-going version of the XR750. That would have been a very cool bike...

The XR1000 was close, but not quite there. I've always wanted an XR750 road bike.

Wasn't that one pretty much a Sportster with the XR750 heads and a breathtaking pricetag?

If you know who Kevin is, you know the deal.

Basically. As I recall they were a decent performer stock but were easily tweaked. I was looking to buy one many years ago, but the prices were ridiculous at the time. I can about imagine how ludicrous they are now.
