600/750 Monster fork parts compatibility

A bloke has a stripped out Marzocchi M600/750 fork cap and needs an upper tube and cap to suit. He has the earlier 96 forks which are the gold anodized, single disc type. Will my later silver outers and caps suit to bolt to his leg lowers? All are 40mm forks with 50 upper and 54mm lower clamp slider sections. Difference appears to be colour and twin disc lower. Slider length is 436mm.
