I need info about steel tanks for Monster 620

Hey all.

I'm in the process of converting my vintage Honda to EFI, and a contact who's already done a similar conversion said that he went with the pump assembly from a Monster 620 (and some parts of the steel tank). Because he's already made this work once, I want to follow his advice. Also, my wife has a Monster 620 with a plastic tank, and it's definitely swollen - so I've been looking for options to replace it, so I'm on converging paths here with the needs of our 2 bikes.

So, my questions are: What years did the 620 use a steel tank? And was that steel tank shared with any other models (like the 800)?

Any info would be much appreciated.

It looks like all Monsters from 2002-2004 had the same steel tank and filter/pump assembly.

Also pump assemblies are not compatible between steel and plastic tanks.  2000 and 2001 900 tanks will fit your Monster too.

Basically, any steel tank from a fuel injected bike will work. Doesn't matter the displacement. There were slight differences in filter locations inside the tank, but that can be remedied with new hoses.

There may be some very early FI tanks that have a different seat cutout. I forget. :P
