i rode around for a while on saturday.  wound up by myself b/c my group split after breakfast.  Sad  i was driving along 105 near montgomery and my left front blinker literally broke off and was dangling in the wind by it's wiring.  how strange is that???

so where should i buy another front left blinker for my '01 monster?

also, right before that happened, i stopped for gas at some little station.  i have to remove the tank bag to get to the gas tank, and i always carefully place it on top of the pump upside down so that i don't get any dirt on it and scratch my tank.  i'm not used to using the tank bag, so after fueling up, i completely forgot about it and took off.  at my next stop (thankfully only 15 miles later) i realized what a dum dum i was and turned back.  course it wasn't there.   bang head  after looking around for a while (including in the trash can), i found it on the ground (in the didrt), open and picked through.  luckily, i didn't have my wallet or anything else of real value (save the summer sausage i had picked up in bellville!!! yum!).  i'm just glad that the loser who rifled through my bag didn't realize it's value.   cheeky

you got pretty lucky getting your bag back!!!

and you could get some generic turnsignals (mini LED or otherwise) from any of the usual mail-order places or your local cycle-gear or "stealership" for around $15-$40/pair....cycle gear usually has a good selection of that kinda stuff.

if you still have your blinker it could probably just be reinstalled....

I think I sent you some of my sh*tty luck as of late PG!!   Undecided

Lost my wallet a few days back..
took car in for one thing that should have cost $100 tops and then runs me (current total) >$1100..
went to view an open house that was infested with fleas  Angry Embarrassed Roll Eyes ..
etc. etc. etc.!!

Anyway, I have my old stock blinkers sitting around from my '03 620 if you need them.

That's what I thought.  How would it pass inspection?

The bike can pass inspection so long as you have ALL working blinkers or NO blinkers on the bike at all (a la bobber style).  Kind of a weird thing but I think the thought is that if you don't have blinkers you will be using hand signals 100% of the time.

<SNIP>  when's the next meeting???  i missed last week.  Tongue

Now that you mention it (the next meeting), why don't you come out to Angleton with us? Track day on Saturday (8/02) at MSR-H. I can give you the blinker then, heck I'll give you 2 if you bring that nifty long lense camera of yours... Grin

Cool!  Then I'll just have to take off the front blinkers for the inspection on mine.  No more rear blinkers after the last mod.

I've got an extra signal as well if you need it.  fwiw, the stalks on the OEM signals become brittle over time, especially right there where the 'accordian' type section is and they'll do that pretty commonly...

The stock turn signals on my 696 aren't very sturdy either. They don't like to be kicked off with my boot...but isn't that what Duc tape is for  laughingdp
