hey guys i just have a couple of questions. first is where do you guys go for your 6000 service and how much? second is where did you guys pick up your monsters from? ive been up to corse superbikes, everyones super cool but i cant afford a new monster. there is a 05 s2r 800 at road track and trail but they seem shady. the bike is $6600 and its been dumped on both sides but only has 990 miles on it. monsters are the sickest bikes and i wont settle with anything else. please help. chug

So far as I know, Corse is the only game in town. Only dealer in the state. Maybe some indy mechs would do it but I don't know of any. When I took my last S4R there, it was around $740 for the 6k service, which did NOT include belts. And it ran like shit after. Which the solved with the addition of $300 worth of PCIII. I'm still sore about that.

Two years ago, I paid 10200 for an 05 S4r from a dealer in NY. And the shipped it to me for that price. The interweb thing is your friend for shopping used.

I've heard of people picking up a Duc at Chicago Cycles, but that's all I got for you.  I normally hear good things about Corse but as you can see not everyone has the same experience at the same shops.

man, $740 and it ran like shit. that sucks. do they have full dyno up there? my biggest concern with ducati is the service costs. ive
checked out ducatisuite.com and it seems like most of the stuff you can do on your own. another question i have is how much for just a valve adjustment?

They've got a dyno.
Background: my 04 S4R had a Techlusion fuel adjuster when I bought it. Ran great. Took it in for the service and they reset everything 'to spec'. well it ran like shit after, stuttered at any steady throttle, etc. Took it back and he messed with it and said he couldn't smooth it out because of the Techlusion, but a PCIII would fix it up. To say I was pissed was an understatement. I got the PCIII and the custom map for $300, but still.
and then i got rearended and totaled it out 3 days later.


Under warranty I would probably have them do the service. Out of warranty I would do it myself. Did in fact. I didn't have to change any shims so I lucked out. I may have them check valves next time if it's not too much. It's a pain in the ass. Took me about 8 hours, but I was double/triple checking all measurements.

If they didn't do the valves or belts, what did they do for $740?  Looking at the maintenance chart, the rest of the service is a glorified fluids change and checking the torque on a few bolts.  I'll be bringing mine in for service later this year and that price sounds like a rip off.  Everything runs well as is here and I don't want them screwing up a good thing.

It is a ripoff, but if you can't/dont want to do it yourself, it's what you're going to pay.
they did check valves, though if they changed any shims I haven't a clue as I didn't get that information.

On my 05 I checked em at 6500ish miles and didn't have to change a single one, so who knows. But you and I (everyone doesn't!) know that shops charge book rate for everything.

That means, when I take my F150 in for new heads, they charge me for pulling the engine. When IN reality they yank the body off the frame and work on the engine in place, thereby saving themselves many hours labor.

i have had nothing but good experiences with corse.  but then again i did my 7500 mile service myself, 3 of 4 valves needed adjustment.  wasn't too bad.

I bought my 02 Super Sport from Corse, I bought my S2R from Chicago Cycle.  Great price but not so great service.  My bike was dirty and didn't have any gas in it when I picked it up.  And I got it in March 05 the weekend after they were taken off the boat.  Corse never got back to me with a partial vin # to check the insurance on the S2R.  In fact I am still waiting Angry

If you want a used Duc from a dealer in WI I would look at Motorcycle Performance  They know their stuff, but don't have a very big selection.

i have not saw a monster on moto performance website yet but keeping my eye on it.
