Not true! There is some extreme chance where having the door CLOSED during the earthquake could give you just enough lateral strength to keep your house from falling down.  But at that point... I don't think you'd wanna be anywhere near that doorway. Also, if you are at that point, having the door open and standing in it is likely to get you killed too.
