Read a little article on the way to work today.  The American College of Emergency Physicians issued an alert this week warns of the rise in serious accidents caused by people texting while walking... when they should be paying make the beast with two backsing attention.

There's been a rise in collisions between pedestrians, cyclists, Rollerbladers, autos.. and even immobile objects like lamp posts and the ends of sidewalks requiring medical attention.

Really people?  Running into a lamppost or falling off the sidewalk because you're sending a text...?  How did you make it past kindergarten with those self preservations skills.

This oblivious while texting has even lead to a couple deaths because people walked out in front of vehicle traffic.  Yeah it sucks that people died... but I can't wonder a bit about Darwinism in action.

And let's not even mention texting while driving.  "Oh I can drive and text, I'm paying attention to the road still."  Yeah, sure.
Oh and don't point out that dude in India texting while reclining on his bike in traffic.  He's street pizza by now.

Yup, text messaging is truly the vice of the retarded out there. Even the word "texting" makes me cringe a little. I am pretty sure the chick who rear ended me while on my bike was text messaging someone. Maybe one day, phones will come with proximity sensors to alert mindless text messangers that they are about to hit something. Until then, I am on the side of the lampposts.
