Possible Broken Toe... Any Advice?

Simple enough. I think i broke my toe while walking to my lunch destination today...
It's pretty purple in one spot, and hurts like a pregnant dog. Anything i can do for it? Or should i just suck it up and wait it out.
It's possibly just a bad bruise/sprain, according to the web. But it could easily be broken as well...

Broke my big just by stubbing really make the beast with two backsin' hard. If it needs to be set the go to a doc (or just give it a good tug   ). Other wise just tape it up and keep an eye on it for any discoloration. It will also peiodically be sore for the rest of your life. So you have that going for you. Which is nice.

I broke my big toe on my left foot in March (I think it was March). I dropped a steel star post on it, right behind the nail.

Broke the bone straight in half.  

I didn't think it was broken at the time as I could still move it, but I was bleeding under my nail and it wouldn't stop.

Decided to have a few painkillers (that weren't f*cken strong enough) and see a Doc in the morning.

I did not sleep a wink that night, it felt as if someone was stabbing my toe with a red hot piece of steel.

Anyway, long story short, if it's broken all you can do is wrap it up, rest and elevate it. Put your feet up and watch TV and drink  

You'll know if it's broken, I think you may have just bruised it badly.
