Are there ways to mount a Superbike tank or tail section onto a Monster without much modification? if not how much goes in to make it work?

thanks for all replies

IMO the superbike tail is way to long on a monster.   A friend of mine has that setup. search TOB under screen name " the pig"

Give people some time to reply. You just posted this up today.

And I agree with brix.

I have wondered about the tail section on a 749/999 if it could go on a monster. Not sure of how it would look, but it appears to be too flat and wide. so the seat would have to be changed/ custom.

These are the type of questions where, if you need to ask how much work is involved, you probably shouldnt attempt it.

you can mount an SBK tank, i think. i remember somebody mounting a ST tank to a monster frame. somebody semi-prominent, too... but i don't remember who.

i do remember that it was supposed to be work to accomplish, though.

That was...chris? I believe they were trying to make their own tank styled after an ST so we could increase mileage on our plastic monsters.

i think it was chris, yeah. and now that you mention it, it was a custom bit. i'm not sure if they did it custom just for kicks, or because mounting a real ST tank was a huge pain. i just wandered over to TOB to try and search, but it doesn't seem to want me to, and between me being lazy and me being hungover...

Any of it can be done if you're good at fabrication, but the deal killer was "without much modification".

Exactly. Most of us racing Monsters mount a superbike tail. I've seen mostly the 916-998 style. I know of one 1098 tail, and bodywork. I have a Gixxer tail on mine. My teammate is setting one up to race with an R6 tail. So yeah, the tail is common and easy to do WITH modification  Wink

Doug at Arc Fab used 999 tails and tanks a lot for his "Ratbikes"

At the end of the month I should have pics of some of the Monsters I race with. We were going to do a group photo at our next race weekend which is three weeks away. I'll post those pics on my website if anyone wants to see a variety of race monsters.

I've seen naked ST's, a few naked SBK's, and I have a naked SS. Why not try that instead??
