Well, I decided to beat the heat, and made a morning run up Hwy 504 to Johnston Ridge Observatory on Mt St Helens.
It was a great day for a ride up the mountain. [moto]

You want to head out this way Tuesday? I'm able to ride 11 to 3. Then back to work I must go.
71º here. Bring your cool gloves.

That sounds good. I have to meet with a drywall contractor at 10, so I'll head out after that.

Hey Mike,
Thanks for showing me some of your favorite roads.
Maybe next time we can have a beer instead of a rootbeer at Pelican.

Glad you made it home OK. The best road was the closed road, oh well. It's a lot more fun without traffic, but it's Summer at the coast.
At least the root beer is pretty good. And It didn't get above 70º during the ride. I know now I can hear a police car with ear plugs in. It was nice that the logging truck pulled over for us in Hebo. A few hooligan miles at least. Ill have to do the rounds next time I'm in PDX, Hopworks and Plan B.

logging truck pulled over?
What happened?
We were following it on 101. It turned when we turned, so it pulled to the shoulder so we could blast past.
I know logging trucks get a bad rep, but they drive fast and know the roads really well. Just stay out of the bark debris field and you are fine. When they are behind you and tailgating, that just means you are not going fast enough.'

Ahhh, ok. I thought someone went down and the truck driver stopped to assist.
Your story is a much better one.

I am up for a ride on 8/5. Anybody else? You can't plan to far in advance. 2009 is just around the corner.
