G'day all

I'm hoping the internet experts can guide me here as I have run out of Ideas.

When I try to log onto the board for the last 4 days I have been getting this Error:

Database Error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query
File: /home/content/d/u/c/ducpainter/html/Sources/Security.php
Line: 275Database Error: MySQL server has gone away
File: /home/content/d/u/c/ducpainter/html/Sources/Load.php
Line: 2016
Warning: Unknown(): A session is active. You cannot change the session
module's ini settings at this time. in Unknown on line 0

For Reference
# I am using a Mac running OS X 10.4.11 (Latest version)
# I have contacted my ISP and had my connection reset (This got me back on the site yesterday after 4 days, but this also involved a complete shutdown and restart of the Computer/Router/Modem, so that might of been it)
# I get this error on both Safari and Firefox
# I have reset/cleared and reloaded and reinstalled both Safari and Firefox
# I have reset and reloaded the drivers and reset the Connections for my Modem and Router (Airport express)
# I have reset and restarted the Computer (That got me on tonight)
# I have noticed others asking about this (Did not notice a resolution though)
# I have been using the new Domain name (Ducatimonsterforum.org)
# This is just trying to get on the site - not posting or anything else - just trying to get on the site.

I can access the site from other computers, (Work or a friends place)

Any suggestions?

Clear your cookies and clear your cache.

Beyond that all I can think is that your ISP is caching the page in a proxy somehow (as evidenced by the fact that you could get in once they reset you)

I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

The Theory is good, but not quite, I had the same problem last night and I restarted my computer and I got back on the site.

Also, I have reset safari which clears the Cache and deletes the cookie file altogether (Many times).

But thanks for the Suggestion  [thumbsup]

Open to any other Ideas.

Have you tried logging out and back in...when you can access things?

When I did get back on the first time, I logged out and logged back in.

When I had to restart the computer last night, I also cleared the cache and reset my cookies.
Now that got me back on.

I only get this error on this site and no other.

My computer guys where I work say it's a database problem at The Monster Forum end, But I just don't get why it works everywhere else I try it, did you find a resolution for the other people with this issue?

Everyone that was having the issues got straightened out when we fixed the software issue to the best of my knowledge.

The fact that you only have the problem on that one machine makes me wonder how it could be a db issue.

When you used the other machines did you log out?

I'm wondering if one of those other machines is holding a session open and the forum won't accept another log in.

Just a wild ass guess.

That's a point I never thought of Ducpainter, I use the machine at work and they are on 24 hours a day, I'll log out when I'm done and check back when I'm home tonight (even though the browsers are closed down).

Like I say, The computer guys here at work said it was a DMF issue, but I figured it was with my machine, if not a lot of other people would also be complaining about it aswell.

Thanks for the Advice, will keep you posted  [thumbsup]

I get in from home and at work with no issues and no log-out/log-in. Then again, I'm permanently logged in from both machines.

Alternatively, something *might* be screwy with your user profile here on the DMF. Have you tried making a new account and seeing if that has the same problem?

I realize that's a PITA but that's the only way I can see that you'd have the problem and nobody else would...

It's definitely not a DMF issue if you can get on after a restart.

I would think this is an ISP issue.  It seems they are caching during your "session" with them and then dumping after you terminate the conenction (restart your computer).  What you could try is to restart your network and then try to get on, if you can the issue definitely lies with the ISP.

G'day again

I logged off the DMF from here at work yesterday afternoon and it seemed to load OK when I was at home last night, It loads about 10% stalls for about 10 seconds and then I can get on the DMF from there.

put it this way, if it means I have to log on and off both here at at work and when I'm home, so be it.
What I might do is just log on for an hour and let the board log me off automatically so if I get called away it won't cause problems when I get home.

But is there anything I should be asking my ISP to do in case it keeps happening?

My ISP here in Australia is Telstra, they are the biggest ISP in Australia and they are the suckiest bunch of Sucks that ever Sucked (And that's being nice!)

Again, thanks for all the help and suggestions, I am most gratefull for all of the help  [thumbsup]

Interesting....

I got an email from another Bigpond.au user. He's having issues too. [roll]

Telstra Bigpond at Fault?!?   No, Never, They never have problems, They never cause any problems.

You just ask them, they'll tell you, It's all your Fault, It's all my Fault, The Planets didn't align Correctly, The planet must be spinning off it's correct Axis again, You must Sacrifice a Virgin at Dawn (Not at Midnight)

Telstra is the main Cause of the Majority of the Internet problems here in Australia.

Out of Interest DucPainter, Mine seems to be running OK.
- I now Logoff when ever I use the DMF, I set the timer for 120 Mins and let the Forum Kick me off
I access the site from Home and Work, so that might have been the main issue.
- I cleared my Cache, and cleared all Cookies, Reset my Modem, and Reset my Airport (Mac Router)
- I also clear My cache whenever I start up my browser (Safari)

You really shouldn't have to go through all those hoops, but I'm glad it's 'working' for you.

As far as logging off, I spoke to our IT guru's at head office late yesterday, I also found that if a site is accessed regularly (once or twice a day) the company servers will also cache a copy of the pages and update them regularly.

Now I don't know if that's it, but if I'm logged in through the work servers and it's keeping me logged in because of the cached pages, surely that has to be a major part of the problem when I try to then log in from home.

I didn't clear my cache at home this morning when I logged on (7:08 am as I'm typing this) and all seems fine.

If it means I have to log on and off when at work or home, I think that is a small sacrifice. it only takes 5 seconds to log on or off.
