Long story short...had not ridden the Monster for about 2 months (work, TDY, blah blah blah...) I tried starting it last Sunday and it would crank but not start (lights would dim a lot), so went out and purchased a Battery Tender.  Left it on for about 4 days and same thing, I figured bad battery (it's 2 years old after all...) so purchased a new battery had the shop put it together, charge it and what not put it on the Battery Tender (for about 2 days to make sure it was fully charged) and when I installed today same thing happened...cranks but will not start (lights dim not as much)...checked grounds, connections, and new plugs but no dice...Help?

Carb or FI? If FI maybe system lines have no fuel and full of air, if carb, much of the same.... It has happened to me, just a few tries, "choke" lever at full hit the red button, and let it do its thing, nothing, repeat. By the 4th try, just, just slightly, blip the throttle while engine cranking...NO reprimends guys, it has worked for me...

But, do you like your bike?

What I did today, fabricated some mesh grills for the front fender and painted them, sanded, painted[first two hands] front fender, dissassembled headlight to sand bezel...Now, having a beer...

Woke up in someone else's house, as I seem to be doing more frequently.

Rode home one my headache subsided.

Realized I am 2 months behind on my safety now.  Ugh.

Replaced the broken screen door, replaced the broken spigot, smacked the cat.

Reasonably successful day.  Grin

Sorry to have missed that with you guys. Had to help fix a lawnmower, removed the rest of the licence plate bracket on the 848 so that it wouldn't fall off (sheet metal project coming up next weekend), did paperwork at the office, bought tree, put up house lights. What happened to rest & relaxation on the weekends? Saturday night was good though. I'm a lucky guy blessed with good friends and a good bike.  chug
