I rode the 848 into work this morning so I can get it ready for it's 7.5K service. Forgot to put earplugs in and even though I've ridden without them before it was a wake up call as to how loud that thing is.   [evil]  Nothing like being on the road at 5:15am riding through residential areas and being on a quiet highway for a bit to kind of heighten the senses.  Yes, I got rained on a bit coming in too but just enough to be slightly damp and extremely cautious of all the manhole covers and painted crosswalks that seemed to double, no triple, in number on the way.  [roll]
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

Going into the Hickam main gate if I recall.

if u go to the main gate coming off the freeway from town side, u can get some good speed and those turns become nice sweepers.

key is getting in there w/ no traffic.

Finally unpacked the Seven and put it together today.  Took it out for a quick ride on the W&OD trail for a quick shake down.  About 15 miles in I noticed a rather odd movement around the BB and said to myself "self, did you check the torque on the crank arm/BB junction?".  Well, of course I didn't!   [bang]  Luckily another guy out there had an eight mm allen and I was able to tighten it up and get back home.

Went down to the shop and watched Rick take the fairings off his 848, and then watched him change the oil in the 848...

Not quite like losing a shift lever linkage but close.   ;D

That was the highlight of the day?   :-X   I hope getting the M3 set up was more entertaining.

Actually, the highlight was holding the 848 upright so you could check the oil level... ;D

damn how many miles is that?
it is so much easier to get forgiveness then it will ever be to get permission.

DRKWNG

GPS track said 126, but I know there was probably another 40 or so that we did in the area where the battery tanked.  Plus, the 20 or so miles to get back home...

Went on a much longer ride on Friday though.  Took the SD out into West Virginia and wandered around over there with some riders from work.  All in all, probably did close to 350 that day.
