I'll see you guys in the AM. If we get sort of lucky maybe we'll run into the old crew and Lester will be out with the Panigale.

No shit? Lester picked one up? Say hello for me, and congrats.

It was nice to see you guys today and shake some of my riding-rust off. I can't wait to see the 1199 in person!
MD-How was the movie? If it makes you feel better, "we" are hosting some of our friends for dinner and an episode of "Desperate Housewives"!

The movie was funny. A chick flick for sure. Wouldn't be a waste of money but not an Oscar contender either.

It's not all that bad. My theory about sanding the inside of the shim to fit the collets worked. There's still some fitting work to do on the one problem shim but now I have the lick down and know what works and what doesn't. It'll still take time but the remaining work should, might go faster. Hey, only six more closers to set. 25% done.

That's Rick, always looking on the bright side.

Suddenly paying for my maintenance service at South Seas feels like a steal! But I think Rick gets a twisted enjoyment from the problem solving/diagnostics aspect of things.

There's a fair amount of truth in what you say.
As far as the money/time spent there's a bit of difference. The 7,500 mile service that you paid for, and one we all paid for, covered checking the valve clearances. Checking valve clearances is a whole lot different and less time consuming than adjusting valves. When it comes to adjusting you can have potentially from 1 to 16 adjustments to be made. In my case, because of the decision to install the MBP collets, there are the full 16. Had the decision been made to keep everything totally stock the bike would have been back on the road at least a couple of weeks ago. I'd hate to see the labor bill for what's being done now and I would never recommend anyone else having the same work done.
