I was on the Daytona, and it was around 1600 or so when I went round.  There were a couple of cyclists on the road, but that is it.  One of the guys almost got kicked though; he heard me coming, looked over his shoulder and saw me, then swerved right in my line as I was coming round to pass him.  Sad too, seeing how I always make it a point not to buzz them too closely...

As far as this coming weekend goes, I'd like to hit the CG thing but want to find out if I can get the SC on base without putting a sticker on it.

And on a lighter note, I found out today that a coworker of mine just recently got a red 848.  Got to get myself a test ride.   [moto]

They wouldn't give you a one day pass at the gate?

No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

Me?  Sure.  I am also thinking about how to get you and your bike on.  Want to join the Coast Guard?

Heck, we just show up at the gate and say we're there for the ride. How could they say no? If that doesn't work we could always find somewhere else to go.

hell, they make me work anyway. *grumble*grumble*

I love it how workload and mission requirements take a higher priority than my fatigue level.

Like the movie "The Bedford Incident" ? (A little stress and work overload on a Navy destroyer)

Actually, being in gov service does have its perks.  If you feel that you are honestly at your wits end (and yes, you get to be the determining factor of honestly) you can force them to give you recover time.  You aren't in the military and they cannot force you to be there.

It's 1815 hrs and I'm still at work waiting for a tech to finish a car for a customer who's sitting in the other room. Kind of forced to be here too.  Angry

However, Gloria & I are heading out for a couple glasses of wine after this.   Vino!

article V: OT and comp pay

sect. 3: assignment of OT work

rule 3-5: ... If there are still insufficient qualified volunteers following these procedures, employees under the assigning supervisor will be assigned to work the overtime starting with those who worked the job during the workweek and on the shift the overtime job is assigned.

sect 4:  ...upon reasonable and timely request, the appropriate supervisor will normally relieve an employee of an overtime assignment provided another qualified employee is available and has expressed to the supervisor his willingness to work.

I am the only day shift mills CNC operator. I am also the ONLY WG-3414-11 "NC programmer" in the shop, regardless of shift. my unique qual gives mgmt the loophole.

I got shit on because the last week I was in training for 40 hours (for CAD/CAM software related shit, to boot), my sup kept giving this justification for no progress on a number of jobs on day shift during the week:

"unable to start/continue/etc. job. the programmer is unavailable"

I got pulled out of training to go back to shop.

sometimes I hate that this job pays too well to quit.

There just has to be a way that you can make this work for you.  i.e. "the pros from Dover" -- Hawkeye Pierce & Trapper John -- when you're good and you're the only good one(s) available you should be able to create some perks.  It's a dicey deal but it works both ways. I've done it.

Yea, like take a long walk.  I.e. they must be willing to make a few concessions to keep you working there if they are the only qualified person on those machines.

you guys must think my GF is a reasonable person...

I think he's still pissed at me for all that sick leave I've used this year... trying to diagnose that abdominal pain I had and my insomnia...

project 'milestones' (the hot new mgmtspeak word) matter the most to him/uppers. all they're concerned about is seeing outgoing work.  and I'm not about to compromise work to make a point, because I still care about what it is that I do, in the larger scope of things.
