I need some help from you Houston folks.  Any hotels/inns near the U of H campus, my cousin is going there for the Dallas/Houston preseason game and needs to find lodging pretty close to the campus.  Any help is appreciated

Yo B,
tell your cuz downtown Houston is close to the U of H campus. I would not stay near U of H, it's uh.... a well.... how do I put it ? Scary  Lips Sealed. The surrounding area is sketchy and the surrounding businesses are not attractive. A $5 cab ride would get him to U of H for sure, just tell him to stay in a hotel near the Toyota center. There's plenty of bars and lounges downtown and all within walking distance, or near the light rail, if he wants something to do before or after the game.

Joe, thanks for that tidbit of info.  I'll pass that on to them.

I agree with Joe... I'm not sure what your cousin's budget, but if he/she stays at the Hotel ZaZa, the action in the bar there is pretty good and will never have to leave the hotel.  Same kind of cab ride fair from there, is next to all the museums and stuff in Houston.  If being next to U of H is imperative, they actually have a hotel on campus that is run primarily by the Hotel Management program of the university (one of the best in the country).  As Joe said, though, don't stray too far in that neighborhood, though...
