hey folks,

so my friend's dog , "peabody", gave birth early this morning to a healthy, tiny little puupy boy...
she gave birth within 45 mins of me starting this thread last night. Dave and i were both a bit worried that she wasn't able to push out the pup. it was going on 12hrs and she had all the signs but nothing was coming out.

i posted up and a few people gave a bit of advice, best one coming from "mother" who said let nature take it's course and a bit of humor added in. then suddenely i heard a little wimper and i walked over and saw blood, then i noticed the little thing was halfway out. Peabody was exhausted and wasn't pushing anymore, so dave gently helped the pup out. she plopped out and peabody immediately started eating the sack and chewed the cord right off. unbelievable!!!

we thought there might be another one in there but alas, it's an only child. pea is only 6lbs and the father (a yorkie) is only 4lbs.

yes, dave bred the two on purpose. he tried the last time she was in heat but i guess the little sperms didn't make it.
this new breed is called a chorkie 

not a fan of these names of the mixed breeds but she sure is cute.

Well, I'll refrain from a rant on the purposeful creation of mutts, and the current state of affairs of our animal shelter system (i.e. there are over 200,000 dogs needing adoption).

Your buddy should get his dog spayed...she'll live a longer and healthier life because of it. Same goes with the Yorkie getting neutered. Please don't breed "Chorkies" for money.

Anyway...I'll butt out now...glad the pup & mom are doing well.

I should do, as to do otherwise will most likely get me a PM from Nate.  Suffice it to say, that the breeding of mongrels is not good for anyone.  Please stop.  It is irresponsible, plain and simple.  A "chorkie" is NOT a breed, it is a mutt.  Period.  Because you think it might be cute, is no reason to bring pups into the world; it is stupid and selfish. 

I'm not done, but I will stop.  I'll make my wife (who is a saint) listen to the rest of my rant...or maybe I'll decide to return Triple J's Dremel and rant at him...

i appreciate your concern TJ...but money is not the intention of dave. he's the biggest animal lover you can meet as well as i. he'll end up staying here or with the father. he and i (seperately) have rescued a few animals in the past. i agree with spaying/neutering. i haven't talked to him about it yet but i was going to ask him about it.

It is irresponsible.  Don't do it.  In this case, you are mixing two high prey-drive dogs.  Recipe for problems?  Maybe.  You say your friend is an 'animal lover'?  Doesn't sound like it.
