Rizoma Reverse Retro Question
«
on:
August 23, 2008, 12:23:08 PM »
Okay, I ordered a set of Rizoma Reverse Retro mirrors from PJ's Parts for my 2007 S4Rs and they're great looking. Just one minor problem: They don't seem to fit over the OEM bar ends. Has anyone else managed to figure out how to mount these mirrors on the stock bar ends? Cheers.

This was written to me in another post about these mirrors.
696 Duc Drive - Yes those are Rizoma's. They sit on black Rizoma bar ends/sliders - you should get them, it will save you the trouble of discovering that you cant move your controls in on the handle bar. You'll notice I tried on some red Rizoma grips in one of the pics, I ended up taking them off, didnt like the look. Plus the throttle side was noticeably shorter, exposing what seemed like a mile of chrome. In general I like the mirrors, they are solid, don't vibrate at speed and offer a good field of view. I would caution that it takes some time to get them in the right place and they are hard to move, so take your time. Suggest you use both hands on opposite ends when adjusting, makes it easier.

I have these mirrors on my 2007 s2r800 and you need the bar ends. I mounted mine under the bars and they look way cooler.

+1 barends.
could be rizoma, but I imagine that they'd mount on any number of aftermarket 'ends, since they have those plastic shims included w/the mirrors

I've got the Rizoma sport grips, and they are a little shorter than the stock grips. They leave just enough space to mount the reverse retros on the bar itself.
This is the best pic I have showing the mirrors. Let me know if you want a better pic.

I know this is an old thread, but I am thinking about a similar mod myself. I want to put Rizoma Reverse Retro mirrors on my 1100S. If I stick with the stock grips I believe I will need to get Rizoma Bar Ends to mount the mirrors on. If I upgrade to Rizoma grips (either Sports Line or Lux) it sounds like I could mount the mirror on the bit of bar that sticks out beyond the grips.
I've read elsewhere that people have had problems with the throttle cable mount on the Rizoma grips, how are yours doing Mash, any problems? Any advantage to the Lux over the Sports Line, to justify the extra price (beyond the aesthetic difference)?
Thanks

Hey Stephen, I've been running the reverse retro mirrors with on my 796 for a while now with the lux grips. There was enough space to mount the mirrors right to the bars with the lux but just barely so I used bar ends and was able to mount the mirrors in enough on the bar ends to hide the stock bar underneeth. The end redult is a few mil gap between the mirror and grip with a centimeter of exposed bar end. Much prefer this look. If i were to do it again I might skip the grips. They have worked well for me but the price is really just for the looks.

Thank you for the reply. Isn't the bar end a wider diameter than the bar itself? Does that mean that your mirror attachment is partly hovering over the gap between the grip and bar end? When you had it on the bar itself could you twist the grip freely, or is that why you moved it?

Yea, the bar end is a fatter diameter so my mirrors are floating a bit over the bars. I've had no problems with the mirrors moving on me like this. Without the bar ends the fit was real tight with the throttle and I was concerned with interference so you should definitely consider using bar ends. You also have to use a couple spacer collars if you mount to the bars which did not seem as secure to me.
