Story:

QuoteWe truly do appreciate the custom-car scene, in all of its various guises. There is, however, a problem with the custom Prius you see above and in the video embedded after the break. Generally speaking, the goal of modifying a car is to either A) make it go faster or B) make it look better.

When Classe Gustafson, Elvis Häggbom and Kenny Kyrk from Sweden had finished spending $184,000 customizing a Toyota Prius, they had accomplished neither. This Prius-trocity, which was modified for a television show, is anything but subtle. It lost two doors during its transformation from mild-mannered hybrid eco-mobile to whacked out sport compact that just happens to get good fuel economy, though it did get scissor-style portals that are nearly impossible to open in the process. And it also gained a huge honkin' stereo and the body-kit from a Volvo SUV. The over-the-top paint-job is the final touch. The Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain, however, went untouched save for the obligatory fart-can exhaust. Nice.

Wrong board-this one you're in is "no monster content", and that thing there.....well.....
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Isn't that what Maximus is rolling these days?

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

my wife drives a Pious.  this one looks much better and is probably loads more fun.  not fond of the paint scheme.  should've made it green.  get it?... green?  anyhow- I give em  [thumbsup] [thumbsup] for improving an otherwise very dull ride.

I guess "improvement" is subjective...

I can think of a lot better things to do with $184,000.

Even if they told me I couldn't spend it on myself, my family or my friends, come on, we could think up a lot better things than souping up a prius.

1. I'd buy camera and video the kids getting poopy fingers!! [evil]

2.  pay someone to take a dump on (what was his name??)'s lawn.  Just for chuckles and jollies.  [popcorn]

3.  Free motorcycle rides to cagers.  Let them know what it's like to have a cager pull into your lane - or split the pack!!!  :o

4.  magnets with "beware: Stupid driver" and toss them on every car that deserves it (at least in my opinion ;D)

Yeah, yeah.  There's lots of good I could do, and I probably would  It's so much more fun to think up these!!

Can we get to 10??

Frickin' snow!

eltristo

I think it's awesome.

NOT!  [laugh]

I've seen things floating in the toilet in the Morning that looked better.

There's only so much you can polish a turd, In the end, it's still just a piece of Shit!!

But apart from that I have no issue with it!  [cheeky]

But when spending $184k on something doesn't fuel economy no longer matter at some point. They could've built something far better looking and far faster with less money and then used the savings to pay for fuel for the life of the vehicle.

I just don't see how one could spend that much on doing that. Seriously-wtf?
