I've purchased a new aluminum swing arm and about to have it refinished. My monster is yellow with a gold frame and I just can't decide what color to have it finished in. I don't like the OEM silver and I'm thinking Black, Gold to match the frame or powdercoated to match the engine casing which will look similar to the carbon color. Who's got ideas... plus photos would be appreciated

1)black 2)frame 3)engine color
Dont go the same color as your tank. Only red can pull it off. Yellow is just a bit too...much. lol

My first thought was yellow, but I think He Man is right. I think the frame color would work best, smooth color scheme through the bike

Thanks guys, I was thinking of anodising the swing arm and am even more convinced having looked at S2daRk SR2 - It looks totally amazing. I think thats why I was leaning to black as I'm concerned that the anodising will not match the frame very well at all.

Frame colour, here is mine as an example I like the anodizing here. I'm getting anodizing colour samples for black and a bronzy/gold to see how it will match against the frame colour.

The finish is black nickel electroplate and it looks amazing. I'm thinking however that it is just too mirrored and on a swingarm may get too scratched. If I go this way I get the swingarm and pegs all done in this colour. It goes reasonably well with the carbon fibre. I've got a sample in a matt finish and it looks very dull by comparison. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of finish compared to anodizing? It is just too mirrored for the Monster look?

Found this for you:
"Black nickel is a decorative coating that is often applied over an underplating of electrolytic or electroless nickel. Black nickel offers little in the way of additional protection, and is easily scratched or stained. A thin layer of black nickel gives an attractive cosmetic finish. Thicker layers of black nickel attain a matte black finish that is often used to achieve high emissivity in aerospace applications. "

Thanks for the compliment! For selecting the best color, why don't you request a Photoshop job? Someone should be able to change the color of your swingarm to the colors you're contemplating. That's the best way to choose the best color IMO.

Here's my attempt at it. I'm sure there are other members who can do a better job at it. Here's to boredom at college. Black-tried to keep it kind of matte Carbon/case-looks pretty similar to black Gold-

WOW!!!!!!!Your a legend mtuduc. I remember what it was like when I was at Uni, any excuse to either go drinking or goofing off. We didn't have the internet when I was there but I'm sure that would have been right up there in the priorities for time management! Thanks for you efforts. I'm going with the matt black and the swingarm should be ready in a few days. My new Ohlins shock has just arrived so there will be a big weekend adhead of me to do this mod. Question... does anyone have / know of a thread that takes me through removing the swingarm and installing a new shock. I really want to do this myself and not send the bike to the mechanic.
