Power required to overcome drag varies with the cube of velocity and a nekid bike like the monster has the aerodynamics of a cinder block.

If you get down under the paint, you can get about 150 mph out of an S4RS. [clap]

A parsec is about 11ty billion miles or 3.26 light years maybe - which ever comes first.

HE MAN----- you must be heavily moded. My stock S2R 1K hit 120 felt like it had more, but I doubt 160.
08' S2R 1K   That was close  damn near lost a $400 hand cart.

Pegged the nedle past 160 MPH many times.....On a private closed road course  ;D
I think a realistic 150 MPH could be the top speed.

I get the "how fast does it go" question a lot.

I think the Monsters aren't about "top speed".

The lack of fairings is a good thing, I think.  My bone stock Rs easily did 135+ on the straight at Portland International Raceway this spring.  But it's kind of . . . annoying, for lack of a better word, at that speed.  Pretty damn windy.

If I spool it up to 80 or 90 on a ride, I typically back off.  All the fun is the trip from 0 to 75 anyway.

Kind of a built in speed regulator, so to speak.

I don't need any triple digit speeding tickets, thank you very much.  My '02 ST4s was down right comfy at 120 mph.  Could do that all day long.  No vibes, no wind fatigue, stable as a rock.  I miss that bike, but I'm kind of glad I don't have it anymore.  I think it would have been only a matter of time before I got caught (or worse).

I'm not sure I want the temptation of a powerful faired bike anymore.  Naked is fun.  Naked is safest.  Naked is best!    ;D

Just a heads-up: speedos are notoriously inaccurate on motorcycles.  (Except Harleys - they're usually dead-on accurate unless the bike's really modded)

When tested against radar guns (don't ask [roll]), my Monster speedo reads about 10% higher than the actual speed.

hit 139 on the monster 696 last week. termi slip ons(full manifold not yet available) and 14T front sprocket are the only mods that might affect performance
