I thought there was a thread about this, but I couldn't find it, so either it was the OB or I'm losing my mind.  Either way, I kinda need a new helmet since I've dropped mine a few too many times and now the visor is not shutting like it should. However, Shoei doesn't really make very many bright colored helmets that are cool.  So I thought I would see what a custom painted one would cost, then at least it would be bright and I at least would think it was cool looking  cheeky
So if anyone knows of anyone in the Bay Area that does custom helmet work I would love to check it out.  Or just an idea of how much it generally costs for a Custom Helmet Paint.
Cheers!

Cost of helmet + a few hundred for painting. Plus wait time, and "artistic interpretation," and it's probably easier to look at all the manufacturers out there for something you like.

You're probably looking at a minimum of 500-750 bucks just for the paint job, add that to the 500 or so for a helmet and it just ain't worth it (unless you have tons of bucks to burn).

I asked around to get my wife's Shoei color matched to her Vespa, but struck out with all the usual sources, and finally gave up on the project.

Hate to rain on your parade, but nobody local seemed interested in doing the work.

If you're looking for something different, try an OGK. Super light, super comfy,  & incredible ventilation!

As far as uniqueness, I've only ever seen 3 in the entire bay area... 2 FF-4's and 1 FF-3. And the pair of FF-4's are here at my place. Grin

Since the FF-5's have come out, the U.S. importer is blowing out remaining stock for and absolutely stupid to pass up price!  I wear a medium Shoei and Arai, but the OGK's run just a hair smaller, so I got a large. It fits as though it was custom molded for my head! Maria has been a die-hard Arai owner from day one, but she swears by her OGK now...she absolutely loves it! waytogo waytogo

There's limited stock left, so check it out quick! The company is located in SoCal, so if you got one today, you'd have it before the end of the week.http://ogk-helmetcom.host-manager.com/html/index.htm

And if you're interested...don't know what your kind of style is... I do pin-striping. I've done cars, bikes, the entire Texas Rollergirls teams' helmets. I'm a little rusty, but I'd be willing to knock off the cobwebs and give it a go.

Here's one I did for "Cat-tastrophe," of the Hot Rod Honeys, TXRD.

I have some better pictures around here somewhere, I'll have to dig them up.
