i would love to hear the dealer response...something like....

dear Concerned Uptight Sissy Rider,
Our ad portrays our true customer, the daring, good looking road racer. Sorry that you are jealous that we ride with popped collars, and more skin then you do, but that is a true testament to our incredible skills. Maybe you should ride more and write less.

Ride,

Im the one riding in the pics with my cousin and I understand what you are saying, but I am not responsible for the actions of others. Just because Travis Pastrana does two backflips on a dirt bike doesnt mean I have the skill level to try them. Now being smart enough to know the difference is another thing. I like the x games but Im sure there are some who dont, just like im sure there are things you like that I dont but you dont see me forcing my opinion on you. Being a rider yourself im sure you have ridden at some point without a helmet in other states even though you have a choice to wear it. But then again maybe you think that everyone in a helmet free state is setting a bad example and it is YOUR AMERICAN RIGHT to have an opinion and make your decisions accordingly. But IT IS NOT YOUR RIGHT TO CHOOSE FOR OTHERS. So if I choose to take the chance and rid in flip flops and t-shirt OR NO-SHIRT and NO-HELMET and that is what I enjoy, then that is my
right as an american. Freedom of choice and having the common sense to decide on what is appropriate for your skill level are two different things. IT SAYS IN THE BIBLE THAT YOU CANT POSSIBLY HAVE TIME TO MIND YOUR OWN BUISNESS IF YOUR CONSTANTLY MINDING OTHERS.
THANKS
JERRY
THE OWNER

I replied that I DO live in a state which gives me the choice not to wear a helmet and I still prefer to ride in my 1pc Dainese suit, gloves, boots and helmet no matter what the temp gets up to outside... But to each his own. Darwinism may eventually teach lessons to some

"So if I choose to take the chance and rid in flip flops and t-shirt OR NO-SHIRT and NO-HELMET and that is what I enjoy, then that is my right as an american."

He's right...Amendment 28 to the constitution, ratified 3/5/1993: The right of the people to ride a motorcycle without shoes, shirt, or helmet shall not be violated.

My response.

QuoteLooks to me the photos were taken at Deal's Gap... and trust me, I'm sure I know ALOT more about that road than you. Being able to pull a 5 mile wheelie doesn't make you a good rider. Just one that doesn't use his bike in a manner in which it was designed for. And did you ever consider that perhaps your injuries may have been less severe had you been wearing proper gear? Are the Brittany Morrows of the world the only ones that actually learn from their mistakes? And please don't pray for me. Save them for yourself. You need all the help you can get.

One thing is for sure, people confuse stupibility with bravery and Jerry the owner took stupibility to a new level.  The point is not forcing our opinion onto you with protective gears, it's about Jerry sending the wrong signal to people about safety.  There are plenty of people out there who need to be educated about protective gear.  The pics in that page certain didn't help...   [bang]

Maybe all we can look forward to is Darwinism taking its course...

Believe me I do pray for myself as well as others and they have paid off. btw there is no label on a bike that denotes its use so u obviously dont know as much as you claim. And as far as your opinion it really doesnt matter to me ,i was just tring to help you out, obviously your parents didnt teach you to mind your own buisness. I run into  people like you with their suites and gloves ,riding 45 n a 55 ,in the slow lane claiming they can ride, and believe me there is a use for suites on the track. and if that is what you like more power to you. For the record ive kept all the emails from you and your friends and I have them documented through cycletrader with your specific ip address, gotta love technology. I agree to an extent... while he's right that it is each riders individual choice to wear gear or not... it should be the general responsibility of all dealers to encourage riders to dress appropriately.

I sent an email to Brittany with Rockthegear.org

Some of you know who she is, but for those that don't, she was a passenger on her boyfriends bike wearing jeans and a sweatshirt when he wrecked.... She was torn up pretty good. I'll share photos if requested. Anywho.. She became a spokesperson for Icon (the reason they offer so much womens gear) and is a huge advocate for educating people on why they should wear gear. I know that her organization has alot of pull with some of the distributors that supply dealerships so maybe they can throw some weight around and get his products pulled since he obviously doesnt want to use or sell it anyways...

As an owner of a company one would think that he would show responsible riding i his ad....one would think. It is idiots like JERRY THE OWNER that flaunt this behavior and then wonder why new laws are enacted forcing them to wear protective gear (you are bringing attention to this JERRY). I am not talking about riding down to the market it flip-flops, i wouldn't, i am talking about Deals Gap, and advertisement of such acts.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should advertise it.

I am by no means a business or legal expert but it just seems like bad juju and sheer stusquidity on Jerry the Owner's part to put this on his site.  I'm not a fortune teller either, but I picture somewhere in the future - one of his young squidly customers following his dealers examples, getting badly hurt, and then the family sueing the dealer for all he's worth because the kid was following the example of this "godfearing" "churchgoing" "I can do what I want don't bother me" dealer.   [bang]

+1 on the bad business sense.  Why not advertise the gear?  Does he just want to advertise what a squid he is?  Don't get it.  [bang]

Sad thing is, if he suffers really serious injuries, such as spinal problems, he'll max out his medical insurance for sure (assuming he has it). And who will be left holding the bag? Us, the taxpayers, will foot the bill for additional, absolutely necessary care. That's the rationale behind helmet laws. I've always thought that people who don't want to wear gear (and no, I don't believe anyone should FORCE them to) should have to sign a DNR (do not resuscitate) order when they get their mc license. Otherwise, we consistently defeat natural selection by keeping these morons alive to breed more morons.

Oh, and he might be ready to meet Jesus, but dying isn't the worst thing that can happen to you on a moto...

Come on guys he can can do 5 mile wheelies at any time [bow_down]! He's way to good of a rider to waste his time with gear [roll]. And even if he does wreck Jesus will take care of him [roll] Also remember the 2 physical therapies he's been through were not HIS fault. What a numb nut.  That's the whole point of having protective gear in the first place - for the unexpected.  I am very disturb at the fact that he was injured twice before and still doesn't have the common sense to protect himself.

If I follow his argument, I wouldn't need home owner's insurance because I don't set fire to my own house.  Plus I have my god to save me me in case anything happens to my house....  Oh BTW, I lost everything I owned and had to live out on the street TWICE becuase my house was burned down (I didn't set the fire!).

as far as jerry the race bike rider... i wish he would do whatever he wanted on the track and help to foster good relationships with local authorities, insurance agents and other motorvehicle drivers so we ALLL can do what we want (ride bikes) without the reprecussions of his individuality.

Mat 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into Deals Gap, and setteth him on an apex of the road,

Mat 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of Parents that taught you how to mind your own business, ride without gear: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a curb.

Mat 4:7 Jerry said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Yeah, the dummy legally has the right to ride like a f'in squid, and he's not entitled to be a role model, BUT his actions have ramifications for bikers in so many areas (insurance rates, image, etc.).  especially as a damn dealer whats this guy thinking???!!!!

Do you also say this to other people who actions have ramifications to the rest of us?  As an example, how about the tool in Cali that just have 8 kids...after having 6 previous kids?  Doubtful.

Are  you also going to say you've never done anything that didn't harm/have ramifications to another persion?

Whenever I would ride into SC and see the guys with no helmets it just baffles me that they would consider it.  When I ride into work, all of the Harley guys see my textile jacket and wonder how I would ever ride without wearing leather.  It's all about the risk you are willing to accept I guess.  I agree 100% that the pics on his site are setting a bad example, but I don't know that it is going to influence me to wear shorts, or if me calling him out would ever influence him to wear socks.  That day will come when he drags a toe (off)!

I love the part of the disclaimer "...wear gear appropriate to your ability..."  What the make the beast with two backs does that mean?  In his eyes, the ultimate rider pilots a bike while nude?

He utterly fails to understand the concept of an accident even though he's been in a few.  Unfortunately, I bet he's also the father to a few kids.

He wasn't wearing proper riding gear for that either.

And can someone tell me what a motorcycle "Suite" is?  Is that in a hotel somewhere?

I really don't think that you are trying to push "your beliefs and habits" on others...  It's really common sense.  Just like face guards on football helmets and even mandatory headlights on cars (hard to imagine that car didn't require headlights back in the day).  These things are must have, in order to protect yourself.  When these changes were implemented, people were putting up a fight.

Some people just don't know what they don't know...  *sigh*
