Anyone else here have joint pains when its about to rain? im young and this blows. Ive read that you can strengthen the muscles around the joint and it will stop happening, everyone else is saying its arthritis and im screwed either way. My Knees hurt. :(
I also rode last night and it was misty outside. Should I try knee warmers?
Any number of things can cause that. If it truly bothers you, see your doctor...
Taking 2000mg of Fish Oil capsules a day can help
Glucosamine Chondroitin with Msm.
I'm young with similar issues. But I never remember to take it, so I end up just dealing with it.
I think midol might help too :'(
[cheeky]
powder for your vag? [evil] ;D
Sorry couldn't help it. My wife always says that when I complain about aches and pains.
I have found though, with exercise and taking a joint suppliment I seem to avoid the most of the pain.
Mines in my foot from an old injury/surgery.

Joints for joint pain ~
JM
I have recently gone on a prescription med call Mobic.
It seems to be working well for my joint pain in my shoulder.
Sure as hell beats taking Loratab 5's.
I am soon to be 60 .
I have done a lot of things in life. I played Golf from the time I was 11 until I was 48 and most of the time I walked the courses and carried my clubs.
I also got into Body Building for about 10 years .
The last 2 years of Body Building I tried using the same lifting routines that the Mr. Universe winners ( mainly Arnold Schwarzenegger ) used.
Long story short, I wore out my Shoulder, Hip and Knee Joints.
I was just trying to lift too heavy and lifting almost everyday of the week. Heavy weight , low reps.
I've had one Shoulder and one Knee Surgery but I need both Knee Joints replaced because Osteoarthritis has eaten all the Cartilage .
I also have the Arthritis in my Shoulders and Hips.
Everyday I take - 6 Omega 3 Fish Oil capsules, 1 Celebrex, 6 Tramadols, plus the days I ride I also take an Aleve and a couple Tylenol and another Celebrex some time after the ride.
Even with all those pills , my pain level is just bearable. After a ride I usually need stronger pain medicine to be able to sleep or tolerate the pain.
The best way to prevent Osteoarthritis is to not injure a joint or use a certain joint too much.
When we are young or even middle age , if we are in decent shape and are athletic at some point unless we are real lucky, we will injure a joint running, climbing, playing ball, falling , lifting something like helping a friend move furniture , or just being a weekend warrior.
Take it from me ( unless you want to have your joints replaced ) try and avoid getting Osteoarthritis.
I've been putting off having my Knees replaced since my Knee surgery in 2001.
I would have to do them both at the same time and just can't bring myself to have my Knees cut out and the Rehab that would follow. Dolph
You take 6 tramadols and still ride? WOW!

Tramadol is make the beast with two backsing candy.
That shit is no more effective than a nice dosage of ibuprofen.
Then again, all medication affects people differently.
The majority of the people I have spoken with about Tramadol (Ultram) is it doesn't work any better than tylenol/aspirin/ibuprofen.
I spoke with my ortho surgeon about it, as I am sick of taking Loratab's and he gave me a script and goes "you can try it, but it most likely will have little to no affect"
My other doc's have said the same thing.
It is a nice alternative, being a non-opiate based medication, but just doesn't seem to hit the receptors in your brain right to make a huge difference.
Pain meds are bad make the beast with two backsing news. I already got hooked on them once (legally obtained prescriptions) and had to go on a blood pressure lowering medication to get off it.
Was clean for six weeks and doc put me back on them. In another few weeks........get to go through that hell again. Stay away from that shit. It is bad make the beast with two backsing news.
Dolph - My Dad had both of his knees replaced. But one at a time. It really cut down on his re-hab time... Just a thought.
And thanks to all on this thread for the ideas/medicines/etc... My joints hurt like hell most days and I just live with it and take glucosamine whenever I remember to. [roll]
Dimerol HCL my man, Dimerol. Took six of em the other night with a few Sammy Smith Organic Largers and I have never, ever seen the world spin like that. Never!
Thought it might stop my heart, but my hip didn't hurt, and I had to have a vacation. ;D Stayed conscious. [thumbsup] Was a heck of a ride. Don't worry, Doc won't give me, but 90 at a time.

My first week of working out, my shoulders felt like they were done...forever! I started taking 4000mg of fish oil a day like 2 days before that. One more day of the shoulders hurting (joints themselves not muscle pain) and haven't felt a single twinge since.
Lots of good info about medication here, but i have no prescription plan so :(. But the joint supplement stuff...costco next stop!
ill need to try that fish oil stuff, cant i just eat fish? How much fish/what kind of fish would i need to eat to match 4000mg of oil? I probably eat about a pound of fresh fish a week, and pounds of seafood other days (big seafood guy).
I have a tingle in my shoulder that shoots up the base of my skull pretty often. :( ive been trying to not sleep on my shoulders, but ive become so acustomed to it from having sleep paralyhsis on my back, i cant sleep any other way.

All of the medication that I listed are sold in generic form.
Walmart will be able to sell these medications on their 5$ per thirty day supply.

The tingle in the shoulder part would be enough for me to visit a Dr. Nerve pinches or even nerve damage is not something to try to figure out on your own.
As for the fish oil...I don't think eating that little of fish will do much good. The caps are cheap at most drug stores/nutrition stores. I take 2 1000mg caps with my morning multi vitamin and 2 in the evening with my evening multi.
That should help tremendously with the joint pain (from what i have been told, we seriously deprive ourselves of Omega 3s in normal diets unless we "force" ourselves to supplement).

If you are having enough pain that it interferes with any of your normal activities then I'd at least see your primary care physician .
You might start though by going to a drug store and getting Glucosoamine + Chondrotin and MSM ( that's a form of organic Sulphur I believe ). I just buy Omega 3 Fish oil Capsules which a bottle of 1000mg. , 300 softgels will cost you about what a Fish dinner will cost you but last you if taken as directed ( like 2 a day ) 150 days.
My Mom used to make a Concoction of ( 1 bottle of Rubbing alcohol, 1 bottle of Aspirin and 1 small bottle of Peppermint oil ) and shake this up in a closed container and then rub it on the joint for pain relief.
The Peppermint oil would cause it to feel very warm and the Alcohol must have allowed the dissolved Aspirin to be better absorbed through the skin.
I use it for nightly Ham String Cramps which if you have ever been plagued with them know they can be extremly painful. Dolph

Good advice here, see your doc. If you don't have one, look for a local clinic and take some of these ideas there, ask about the Glucosamine. I've heard people have great results with this stuff.
Hope you feel better.
Dooood,
You are way too young to have any kind of joint problem.
When I was your age the only joint problem was when we ran out of joints. ;D
Eat well and get some rest. Oh yea, if I remember correctly you can't sleep either.
Maybe some joints are what you need.

OK, 6 a day. I thought you meant 6 at a time...
I broke my right patella in basic training and then developed patello-femoral pain disorder in my left knee. I suffered from chronic pain for years. Then I started doing full range of motion squats (front, back and overhead). If I can't go all the way down until I hit the stretch reflex, then the weight is too heavy. (That point is below parallel, where the crease of the hip is below my knee.) I have experienced 100% pain relief and my knees have become significantly less "crunchy". Call me weird, but doing weighted full range of motion squats and a whole bunch of other stuff has actually improved my knees and given me relief. I wouldn't know from experience, but from talking to people who don't squat with a full range of motion, that their knee pain increases over time, and they have suffered joint damage. It's kind of like the people who do pull ups, but don't go to the full range of motion either at the top or the bottom, and then complain of elbow and shoulder pain.
This is just from my experience and observation. It is worth exactly what you paid for it. ;D

Yes, you would need to see a doc to get most of the meds I listed, especially any pain management drugs.
But I will tell you first hand........that is not a fix and only leads to a chemical addiction to them.
It can lead to addiction, but not always. I took vicodin after the accident for quite some time. Once the pain subsided, I stopped taking them with no ill affects, but that's just my experience...

6 a day is a quite a lot of Tramadols, that pushes up on the daily max you can take. Probably couldn't be good for the liver.

I just get the withdrawl symptoms from it.
I completely trashed out my right knee/hamstring a decade ago playing softball. Now it wreaks total havoc on me from time to time.
Sounds like I need to bump the dose of fish oil. [thumbsup]
Or get back into some serious dope smoking.
Recommended dose for tramadol is 50-100mg (1-2 tabs) every 4-6 hours. Max dose is 400mg a day per Tarascon...

Damn, I was off by 100mg on the max per day.
I love how they say every 4-6 but realistically that shit only lasts 2-3hrs
I'm telling ya, 300 milli grams of DEMEROL and a couple of beers will cure anything - temporally. ;D

A large dose of THC will probably make you forget about the pain . Add some Fish Oil and it may feel all better.
Don't operate dangerous machinery while taking your THC. Dolph :)

Pffft-kids these days.
I could work ya'll into the ground.
I snap, crackle, and pop along with aching all the time. My orthopedist is already talking about knee and hip replacements in my 30s. One of my hips audibly grinds when I walk sometimes.
Mother says I'm lying about my age and calls me an old lady. >:(
