Title: malibu houses and damn that is real money!
Post by: sbrguy on July 01, 2009, 04:12:34 PM
you know reading the LA times homes section where they list the hollywood stars selling malibu homes and such.

gets you thinking, damn to be able to afford 6 million dollar 2 bedrm houses.. and buy 20-40 million dollar estates.. that doesn't just take "money or rich" that takes having "F-U Money"..

same thing can be said with nyc apartments and penthouses etc.. its really unfathomable that there are that many people that really make not just Millions a year, but literally 10s and 100s of millions a year to afford those places.

but what i will say is taht those malibu homes are some of the most beautiful places you can get with a location that is insane.

there's a point where it stops being about how much money you make and becomes more about how much your money can make for you.

yeah that is true, but you need to get to that "level" before your money really starts making "f-u money".

Money isnt everything of course its not, health is family is - but life in general is always about money, unless you live on a beach in a tent.

I was a real estate broker for 6 years in SoHo in NYC.
let me tell you, the prices are INSANE.
I rented an apartment to the actor "stanley tucci"
rent was $25,000 a mo for a loft on Crosby street (actually the bldg was owned by lenny kravitz)
you cant step your foot in Manhattan for anything under 1500 for something decent.
Last deal I did in 2006 was at "the corinthian" bldg built in the 80's - breath taking views of the empire state bldg

900 sf
1 million dollars...

Retarded.

you are making fun of me because - I like MJ?
or because I said money is important?

have you ever had a single mom that has no money and is very sick? no dad around or food on the table??
I'm proud of myself that I busted my balls at 18 years old to rise to the top to give her and my 15 year old brother EVERYTHING.
so when I say money is everything you dont have to insult me or pick on me or bring up michael jackson - because to me without it, we would not survive.

Some people just don't get it. Remember, we are dealing with someone that seriously considers the death of MJ to be on the same level as the tradegy of 9-11.

My opinion: Money makes things easier but it does not make you happy. It doesn't hurt and I am happy to receive what I receive but in the last hours of your life, on your deathbed, you aren't going to regret not buying that 911 or M3, you are going to want your family and friends around and that's it.

True. At 19 I could live on $1K a month and I was happy. Now I can barely live on 10x that and am not any happier then I was then.

Thats a fact.

From what I remember DMF'ers didn't hook old what's his name with $1 for a ring. But I guess it didn't make Beck's list so it doesn't count.  :P

Money? Eh, it's not about how much you have or how much you make? It's about doing what makes you happy.

You want to make 11ty billion dollars? F*ck it, as long as your happy go and do it.

You want to paint 11ty billion motos? F*ck it, as long as it makes you happy.

You want to dissect other's posts into mockery for all to see? F*ck it, as long as it make you happy.

Me? I'm living a miserable life compared to everyone making $11ty billion sheckels. (is that right Beck? never used that term but sounds cool) But I'm living MY life the way I want to, THAT's what make me happy.  [thumbsup]  Money just makes me look cool doing it.  8)

Ya, but if NYC real estate prices weren't so insane, New Yorkers wouldn't want to live there because then they couldn't legitimize their existence by discussing how much money they spend on their apartment/parking/ building's dry cleaning service, etc. That's what I gathered from my time in NYC, any way.

Right now I live on next to nothing and I couldn't be much happier. Well maybe a new streetfighter would make me a bit happier. ;D

I have no idea how many times I've seen that movie. Sheer awesomeness. The movie really isn't about money per se.

And as Donald Trump said - "It's not about the money, it's about the deal.  I do the deal to do the deal."

I don't know how someone could quote Gordon Gecko with any seriousness given the current condition of the economy debased by men like him.

That's not to detract from a good film that illustrates the ethos of an era. I just think that character is more a warning than something to embrace.

well donald can say "its not about the money but the deal" but when people say "its not about the money" why don' they do it for the love of it for free?

the only people i'll believe that say "its not about the money" are people that do selfless acts and jobs where they are not paid, not recognized, and nobody knows what they do or even why they do it. in other words they receive no "compensation" in the traditional forms that could be exchanged or bartered for "money" in any way, such as prestige, held higher by society, power, money, influence, etc.. basically they have to literally do it annonymously for the pure love of it.. then its "not about the money"

talking about money that thread on how much simon cowell makes a year is ridiculous.

i don't think money in and of itself alone will make someone happy, aftearll if you have 1 billion dollars but are stranded on an island with nobody to talk to and no hope of getting off all the money in teh world don't mean squat,.. but what i will say is in a civilized society where money is used to buy products and services, it may not bring you happyness but at least it will make life "easier" in that hopefully you can easily afford the products and services you need to live.

'Wall Street 2': Oliver Stone, Michael Douglas to return for sequel, Shia LaBeouf in talks
Apr 28, 2009, 03:56 PM | by Nicole Sperling

Categories: Movie Biz

The much-discussed Wall Street sequel is getting closer to launch, EW has learned. Michael Douglas will return as corporate raider Gordon Gekko, the role for which he won the 1987 Best Actor Oscar, and Oliver Stone will be back as the director of the followup to the movie that put the phrase "Greed is good" into the popular lexicon. Shia LaBeouf is in talks to play a young trader in Wall Street 2, which is set 20 years after the first installment. The film's plot will revolve around Gekko's life after he gets out of jail during the current economic climate. "I think it's time to take another hard look at trading and the economy and what went wrong in the last few years," said Douglas Monday night during the premiere of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. "Everybody's talking about the economy and people are scrutinizing it. Whenever I mention Wall Street 2, everybody goes, 'Yeah. Interesting. I'd see that.'" Edward R. Pressman is producing the film, whose latest screenplay draft was written by Allan Loeb (21). (Additional reporting by Carrie Bell)

Money will not nor never has bought happiness. It will however let you choice your misery.

They are a lot of things in life that are truely priceless unfortunately you don't know what they are until their gone forever. BP mentioned a few  [thumbsup]. Do you know anyone affected with MS, ask them the value of good health and a sound body.
