probably a tech question.
is there wind?
are you on a treadmill?
I think there's an ointment
I'd be on the lookout for zombies. . .

yes, about 80mph worth
though the bike is fully faired (triumph)
to be honest, i was running it at 7-8K (10K redline) for 15 miles straight

You didn't mention how long it's been glowing. This is probably important.
Did you post this the instant you swung your leg off the bike?
If so, it's fine.
If it's been an hour and they're still glowing, I'd guess your bike has reached critical mass and you probably won't have enough time to reach minimum safe distance.
Nice knowing you red beard.
;D

well as i stood there warming my hands by the engine for 3-4 min i noticed them a nice orange color.
after i put the bike away and hooked up the charger i looked again and they were still glowing, but nowhere near as bright as they were before. that was prob about 7 min after i first noticed it. i can't get to the rat board from work for some reason so i can't ask if others have had that same thing happen. i'm not ready to call it a problem just yet as i don't know itf it's really all that bad.
I know it's a different bike, but my 675 would glow the head pipes only when in the garage and I held it at 3-4K for long enough.
I never noticed it after coming in from a ride.
Does the bike run well? I can't imagine it's cold enough to lean things out that much.

it has a bit of trouble starting when the temp is below 30.
i did notice that it was running a bit warmer than it usually does.
i'll have to keep an eye on the headers to see if they glow the next few times i ride.

Couldn't be any worse that riding in the snow with your front tire at 50 PSI. ;D

"n the much" ???
so tonight i kept the revs closer to 6K. the pipes were even brighter when i got home. i'm thinking it might be a normal thing and i just never noticed it.
ambient temp is around 31 tonight.
Either you are running lean or something weird is going on with with the ignition timing.
cold temps = dense air = running lean. maybe the ecu isn't compensating enough?
mitt
if you have a powercommander, add some dwell time to you injectors over your whole secondary map and enjoy the added grunt.
no PM. it's stock.
i figure the more i do to it the more can go wrong so i'll keep it stock.

Bet your bike has an ambient air or some other temperature sensor that went on vacation. Do you belong to a Triumph board?

i'm calling the dealer when they open on tues.
and the only triumph board i know is triumphrat.net
there seems to be a bit of talk of glowing headers, but not the sprint specifically.
i'm thinking it probably isn't a big deal as long as the plastic doens't start melting.
