OK maybe this is worth a try. There is a motherlode of crap to mine, many huge nuggets of insultingly stupid crap have been aimed at us over the decades. It is time I think to commemorate those efforts that left scars on our living-experience
In the contemporary era I would offer Burn Notice or maybe Royal Pains....my wife refers to them as Butt Notice and Rectal Pains and she even records them so she can exercise her sense of outrage at the quality of script, plot and acting inabilities....
my favorites are the ones that portray studiously politically-correct messages with families comprised of the mandatory/obligatory Gay/Disabled/Minority/Inter-racial/Substance Abuse Alcohol Recovery members................ I love pious vanity correctness stereotyped and pumped up to a level that rivals Josef Goebbels' Third Reich Master Race messaging...confections that ignore the Jerry Springer reality of human beings
in this category "Brothers and Sisters" gets the nod for how families "should behave" as opposed to how they actually "do behave"
It's called the "pussafication" of America.
Yes..the tyranny of the "sensitive" is problematic in our culture...we want to be a kinder gentler country at the same time that an unkinder and more savage world would like to stomp our arrogant asses back into some 13th Century paradise
However keep in mind "Bad" is a big tent
and shows such as "My Mother The Car" delivered an inedible Freudian mulligan stew that I still have not been able to completely digest the ingredients of
Well, if we are going that route. Mr. Ed ruled. ;)
hate:
Desperate Housewives
Sex in the City
any show modeling itself after those two.
btw burn notice was fun if you put away your disbelief
Galactica 1980
Even as a kid, I knew that one was a steamer.
You have to stop looking at these things as a whole
much like we are forced to endure the hot dog so we may enjoy the Beaver's Sweet Hot Mustard
we must endure the Burn Notice so we may enjoy our memories of Gabrielle Anwar circa mid '90's
that and Ash is in it and he may be the greatest actor in the known universe

excellent point...as in viewing a mural,, the eye will generally continue to return focus to those elements deemed most pleasing or horrific
As for savoring Miss Anwar's sweet hot beaver mustard....can't say I am getting a good visual there ;D
Manimal
My guess is it's the next 80's show to be redone into a movie
In the modern era, any show considered "reality tv."
The one that definitely takes the crown tho is The Hills.

The hot asian chick who frequents the DMF?
I rarely watch television as I consider it a waste of time. I f I wanted to waste time to that extent I would have stayed married to the moron and endured yet still more years of abuse. I presume crucifixion is better than most tv shows and sounds like it is more welcome.
As for the political correctness of them thats ok ,but the reality shows are really quite silly. If you want reality just walk in my shoes for a day,I'll show you a reality that most would not be able to handle for 10 seconds flat let alone a day,a week,a month,a year or a lifetime. :-*
Have the most Fabulous day everyone,
BGB!

Rat,
Can I ask why such interest in the worst aspects of pop culture? Other than the inherent dark humor and masochism involved in peering into the depths of our own idiocy, of course.

I will paraphrase Einstein...he said something to the effect that
There are limits to human intelligence but no limits to human stupidity how can I not want to see how far we have progressed...or perhaps regressed is more accurate

Worst TV show?
Could be Hogan's Heroes. A sitcom set in a Nazi stalag? I'd love to have seen them pitch this concept to management. What were they thinking? They must've known something, people were stupid enough to watch it. There was sure some rotten TV during my formative years.
Green Acres
Nuh uh, Green Acres was brilliantly stupid. When I was recovering from a moto wreck, I spent a lot of time in TV Land and developed a deep appreciation of Green Acres. I'd put it right up there with Bullwinkle and Rocky.

Green Acres: The Seed Spitter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnfCyprEzt4#normal)
I hated Cattlecar Galaxative when I was in high school in the 70's.
However, it had nothing on Crusader Rabbit in the horribleness department. We got that on Armed Forces TV in Germany instead of real Saturday morning cartoons. Instead of Scooby Doo or Rocky and Bullwinkle, we got that relic of the 50's.
Oh, wait... Lidsville. Sid and Marty Krofft made some of the worst things ever to pollute a TV, but that must have been their worst.

You didn't watch that, did you? :D
"My Super Sweet Sixteen" makes me want to go on a murderous rampage in southern California.
"Reality TV" hasn't been the same since COPS and Rescue 911 went off the air
"Being Bobby Brown".....wow what a show how could I have forgotten that one?
It was horrifying not so much for Bobby Brown but more for exposing Whitney Houston as something closer to a Hunts Point Crack-ho,,,,, rather than America's sweetheart
ok can we just lump 'reality tv' into one big SUCKS.

one more for your suckocity...
Growing Up Gotti

I know this thread is meant for TV shows, But I have to throw in a movie because I feel it is somehow related. The movie "Idiocracy" at first mildly amused me, but as I watched it a second time, it kind of startled me a little bit. And now, as I walk through daily life that movie horrifies me as I slowly watch the premise of the movie become a reality. The basis of the movie, for those that haven't seen it, is a man is frozen in time for like 500 years and awakens to find that all the intelligent people of the world have limited the rate as which they reproduce, while the uneducated and moronic have multiplied at ever-increasing rates making "intelligence" a recessive gene. I highly recommend watching this movie, then cringing in fear as you watch the "man on the streets" interviews on your local news!!
It was so BAD, I had to watch...
