Gotta agree, it's badass looking but after having put a couple k miles on the previous two generations, it's a very awkward riding position for me anywhere but the track

Doesnt mean I dont still love it though

if your body doesnt feel like its part of the bike, or youre simply just fighting the ergos of the bike you wont really enjoy it. Id pick an R6 over the 675 anyday.

+1

I don't find the 675 to feel that much lighter than the 848, so I'd rather have the evo's 'stuff'

Why r6? I thought the gsxr's were a better bike?

there's no real "better"/"worse"  they each have their advantages and disadvantages.

I'ld go for the 675 or the evo, personally. But the r6 has been an excellent bike since its 06/07 remake (alittle rev hungry, making it not always excellent for town use).  I really wonder what the next redesign brings.

I've got two Gixxers and a Busa (yes, they all get along with the Ducs in the garage [laugh]). matttc7 is right, no better/worse. Like people all bikes are different. I would like to ride a 675 Daytona just to say I have. Had a friend leave his 848 in my garage while he borrowed my 996S. Resisted the temptation to take it for a spin. [evil] For the same reason I don't need to ride a new Duc 1098/1198 SBK or my friend's latest GSXR1000. But for some reason I'd like to ride a 675. Guess it's because I know (or I think I know...) I wouldn't actually buy one. Another reason I avoid all demo days. [bang] [laugh]

In US$ MSRP
2011 848EVO ---------$13,000 (dark)
2011 GSXR600 ------ $13,600
2011 Daytona675R ---$12,000? expected price
2010 cbr600 -------- $12,000 (11 pricing not avail)
2011 R6 ------------- $10,900

Agreed, For the price I'd take the R6 and spend the 3-4,000 left on performance upgrades...

everyone has their own receipie to make a killer chocolate chip cookie.

The R6 seat position wise and how my body lays on the tank is top notch. i feel like its made for my body, everything fits me beautifully.  Its design is DEAD Sexy and its got some really clean lines. It feels so good, id give up my monster with clip ons to get an R6 anyday of the week.

I would of said R1, but we are talking about 600cc class bikes here. I think the R1 is even better of a bike, the new 2010 R1 is insanely good looking. Its my 3rd favorite bike in terms of liter class...

1-999
2-1098
3-R1
4-CBR1000 ( in white only)

One of the previously listed articles. Had it is GBP, converted to US$

"Dealers are expecting it cost somewhere between £9000-9500 when Triumph finalises 2011 pricing. The standard Daytona 675 will continue alongside the 675R."

You can't do a literal conversion from one currency to another.  There are too many things to factor in, such as taxes in each applicable country, and discounts applied due to perceived market share.

Makes sense. I didn't think they would list a price accounting for this. Usually you can convert MSRP and it's fairly accurate.

US$ MSRP for the 675 $10,500 I'm guessing you are right about ~$12,000 for the "R"

And $12K is not bad for a bike with that capability, considering it comes with Brembo monoblocs and Ohlins (albeit OEM) bouncy bits...

I'm thinking that is my next bike.

I spent about a year on an '08SE Daytona, and it handled pretty damn well once I got the suspension set up more to my likings.  I kind of regret selling the thing, but don't regret buying the Super Duke at all.

Using that chart, compare with the 848 EVO "Dark" - its a grand cheaper, and all "real features" are the same.

The Japanese bikes MSRP's in the US are actually higher than most of us realize, but very few of them are sold near that price. Hasn't everybody been in a GJB dealership and seen the litre bike class marked down below $10k? They bring in so much inventory that they can sell last years models this year (every year) at "deep discounts", still turn a buck, and have customers throwing money down daily.

I found the one I had to be a touch more aggressive than say an 848/1*98.  I could still get comfy on it though, and could spend multiple hours on it without feeling like a pretzel.

Nope. And I have the 848. After having a GSXR750 at one time the 675R would be my first choice after the 848. (I might add that my 848 has been modded enough that it's almost nothing like a stock version  [moto])

The ergonomics of the Daytona aren't all that bad. I'm 6' & almost 60 yrs old and I've spent a few hours on the 675. No problemo.

Giants have been known to have trouble riding sportbikes.  ;D

Normal sized people (<6', I'm 5'7") will probably find the 675 more comfortable. I have only been on an 07 675 for less than an hour, but I doubt the ergos have changed much with the 2011. I am used to riding the 696 so I found the 675 uncomfortable at first due to the different riding position. I'm sure I'd get used to it after a few hundred miles though.

As a matter of fact NO the 696 suits me perfectly. The HM1100 and Multistroodle however are built for the freakish giant race of humans and as a result I cannot will not ride them.

I'm just giving you shit for the sake of it. I'm not much taller myself 5'10''

I do feel pretty cramped on a 696, though. I do not imagine it would be particularly comfortable on an extended ride. The S2R1K with the added height of the Sargent seat and the maxed out rod is just right.

We've got a red 675 that keeps our Monsters company, but once Triumph started making changes to the nose (adding those louvers) and adding different graphics, I really felt like the bike was starting to look cheap.

Though I do like the color scheme of the SE:

675's not comfy?

I rode my 06 600 miles straight to go to the first dimby

I'd do it again too ;D

I, also, regret selling mine.

I fit on it really well. Really comfortable on that bike. Probably too comfortable. I could crush on the track and on the street.

It went to 13,000 miles before I sold it.  Never checked a valve or had an issue. 45-50 mpg

$10,100 otd and it beat the 848 in all the mag tests.

Not that that swayed me, I just really liked it (848's are cool too)

I don't think the 675R will be worth it. I can't see it being that much better than the normal 675 when it's such a capable bike out of the box.

You think?

Price aside, the two bikes were nearly an even match in 09.

With the redesign in 10-11 correcting many of the weak points the 848 had I think it will be the better bike this year.

The 848 has more power but previously the 675 out handled the 848 on the track. I think with all the improvements to the 848 combined with the increased power it will be a contender... this is all my opinion so dont go shitting bricks.

I personally think the comparison between these two bikes really comes down to rider preference.  Rider A will prefer the power delivery of the twin, and will make it work to his/her advantage on the track.  The opposite could easily be said for rider B, and they might appreciate the triple's power delivery better.

I personally like the Daytona better, but that's just me.

I have to pick up his slack now that he is on extended vacation.

So what is the difference between the SE and the R's?

No one knows for certain, as there has not been any information coming out of Hinkley so far.  But from what you can tell in the pics, Ohlins bouncy bits and Brembo monobloc stoppy bits.  Rumor has it that it will come with a quickshifter from the factory as well...

848 would have little to no chance against the 675 in the speed stakes.

Just wanted to post this....

848 kicked some serious ass... faster than the 675 on the track (-1 second) and killed it in top speed. 848=271km/h, 675=256km/h

Ducati 848 Evo v Yamaha R6 v Daytona 675 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Uj0jQTbTIE#normal)

Quite disgusted with the blue/white, actually.  They look terrible up close.  Buddy had a black/gold limited 2009 Daytona (and promptly dropped it a month after buying new), that was the sex.

While this looks nice, how can you beat the Dark Stealth 848?

At least they're not using the standard OEM Ohlins bits though...

Test rode a 675 today. I can't justify the premium cost of it when it felt so much like a Japanese inline 4.

premium cost? it's less than or equal to other supersports

yea, it's like an I4 but with a crazy midrange

The only way a 675 is at "premium cost" is if the dealers are marking down the jbikes to sub 9k.  675s are the cheapest of the ss bunch, but often sold closer to retail than the j bikes, which are often marked down to almost nothing
