Title: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: DoWorkSon on August 08, 2011, 09:55:32 AM I was inspired by another dual headlight install, and a little bored with my single headlight so went to a dual setup...
Ordered a set of CNC Italy fork clamps and an older monster headlight bracket from bellisimoto, and a dual headlight setup from monsterparts.... The result: (http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv250/bsurjan/a49289a3.jpg) (http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv250/bsurjan/9910a15e.jpg) (http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv250/bsurjan/afc280a6.jpg) (http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv250/bsurjan/da2b1b8d.jpg) I love the look! Really happy I switches out to a dual light. Coming next.... Post by: Pedro-bot on August 08, 2011, 10:35:31 AM I don't remember seeing a dual headlight on the new gen Monster. Looks great. [thumbsup]
Any chance you can get an upclose pic of the headlight mounts? Do you have a link? I've been looking for something like that for my 1st gen monster. have you aimed them yet? they look a bit skyward looking Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: Veloce-Fino on August 08, 2011, 03:40:43 PM Looking good.
I find myself a bit jealous of your bike, you have many parts I want on my own. Then again, I've shown restraint when it comes to spending on the moto's. ;D Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: uglyducky on August 08, 2011, 04:11:03 PM i've never really been a fan of those lights on the old gen monsters but that looks slick as hell.
Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: timeforpoptarts on August 08, 2011, 04:17:57 PM I dig this. Has anyone done it for the newer Monsters?

You're looking at one. :P i've never really been a fan of those lights on the old gen monsters but that looks slick as hell. Thought the same thing when I saw his bike. Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: zarn02 on August 08, 2011, 05:06:01 PM I'll also throw in my approval. Never did dig the dual lights on old-gen, but this setup really does look slick.
How's light output compared to stock? Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: d3vi@nt on August 08, 2011, 07:32:29 PM I'll also throw in my approval. Never did dig the dual lights on old-gen, but this setup really does look slick. Ditto. I haven't seen too many dual set-ups on any Duc's that didn't look a little odd. These look great. And I really like the red on black rim strips [clap] Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: COP TZR on August 08, 2011, 07:39:56 PM I'll also throw in my approval. Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: zarn02 on August 08, 2011, 07:58:18 PM Are you using stock bulbs or brighter ones? How is the light output?? I'm not even on a Monster anymore. I remember light on the M900 being pretty decent. Certainly rideable at night, at city speeds. I was just asking out of idle curiosity, and for the benefit of anyone here who might be considering the mod. (I'm on a 998 now. Headlights are pretty much useless at everything but satisfying the legal requirement that the bike has lights.) Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: Duc796canada on August 08, 2011, 08:36:01 PM Nice. You should fabricate some sort of cover that can make the bike from the front look like a face :) that will be truly one of a kind :p
Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: zarn02 on August 08, 2011, 08:41:50 PM You can kind of find a "mouth" between the lower triple and the fender. The face it's making doesn't look happy, though. [laugh]

Post by: speedknot on August 08, 2011, 08:59:23 PM I was just about to pull the trigger on those for my M750 but their is an issue with the clearance between the back of the bucket and the speedo cable. The speedo cant be safely bent without breaking for the light to be properly mounted. There is a cut out on the OEM bucket for the cable. It doesnt look like you have that issue.
I love the look of that dual setup. Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: 2-Skinny on August 08, 2011, 09:02:46 PM ROFL [laugh]

Very cool looking job on the lights [clap] [thumbsup]. Normally I am not a fan of bellypans, but for some reason it works very well on your bike. How'd you mount the speedo binnacle? Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: Queestce on August 09, 2011, 04:25:22 AM That looks great man! I have been considering a similar mod to my 620, including a nice short screen to fit. I think the dual head lights look very cool, really helps make the bike look custom.

That timing belt cover makes me drool every time I see it. I'm pretty sure thats my next mod. Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: 2-Skinny on August 09, 2011, 08:51:33 PM Oil cooler is of 2000's M750...

I better get to work. Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: NateNewThread on August 15, 2011, 04:55:55 PM I'm a bit confused at how you mount the headlight bracket to the CNC clamps.
Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: Roaduser on August 15, 2011, 06:35:36 PM not much to be confused about when they are in your hands, they are quite simple and effective. no drilling or cutting required for the older monsters. and this one looks much the same from these pics.
Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: DoWorkSon on August 15, 2011, 07:16:40 PM I'm a bit confused at how you mount the headlight bracket to the CNC clamps. There is a small threaded hole on the Cnc clamp you cannot reall see... Bolt goes through headlight bracket, through a spacer, and screws into this threaded hole... The collars come with small spacers to offset the bracket from the forks.. Kinda hard to explain, but makes since when you see them Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: COP TZR on August 16, 2011, 06:08:25 AM what kind of paint did you use on that oil cooler? I want to do mine, but not sure if painting it will have an adverse affect on the cooling properties.

Some coatings will act as an insulator. Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: COP TZR on August 17, 2011, 05:00:15 AM how is the light output with these lights? Better than stock single or better?
Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods... Post by: cokey on August 17, 2011, 12:29:08 PM There's a coating you can use which attracts heat away from the metal... we use on engine internals and intake manifolds..

To me they seem to have a little less brightness than the stock one and the spread is also a little less. That being said they are still really good headlights. They provide plenty of light. I also have a sneaking suspicious that I haven't adjusted mine correctly yet. Title: Re: Doworkson's 696 dual headlight, and other mods...
