Bick,

We are talking this weekend right?  9-10 Aug?  MRA race at Pueblo.  Joe Cat and Eric P are racing too.  I plan on heading down also.  What day/time were you planning to head down?

Correct.  This weekend, Aug 9 and 10.  MRA at Pueblo.

I think his race times are 1:00 on Saturday and 4:00 on Sunday.

Want to meet either in Deckers or Woodland Park and take the long way?

I'd be interested in meeting in Deckers, I don't know if I'll go to the races, but a ride on Sunday would be nice.

Gonna have to be a little ealier.... I'd meet and ride with peeps, but Bicks is talking about being in Deckers @ 9:30-9:45 Probably ought to be rolling out of our meeting place around 9ish. So meet at 8:30 and enjoy a cup of joe? What about Montegues, everyone is familar with it right?

Ok, are you guys coming through Deckers though? I'd rather meet up with you there. More road fun, Hwy24 below Woodland Park is to heavily patrolled for me to have much fun on.

I do believe we'll be meeting at the Morrison Conoco, and then heading south through Deckers to Woodland Park.

I'll see you guys(Denver crew) in Deckers then..... if anybody(SoCO DOGs) wants to meet and ride up with me I'll swing by Montegues and be leaving from there around 9ish, as I mentioned before. Hope to see a couple peeps there if not then I'll catch ya on the way down.  [thumbsup]

Good ride everyone. I made it to Cripple Creek, but my oil light kept flicking on/off and it would not stay started, so I just got back to the springs (luckily with no further problems). The sky opened up on me near WP, and was soaking wet, but other wise cool.  :'(

Stella and I got drenched, I mean soaked to the bone wet on I-25 south of Fountain after we left the track in Pueblo shortly after three.  There was rain, standing water, rain, hail, sideways rain, rain coming up from the ground, and water everywhere!

My fingers may look pruny for days  :-\

Glad to hear you had no other issues, Cooleye.  [thumbsup]

Sorry I didn't make the races today.

I had a weekend ride planned with my neighbor, we started out Friday morning with about a dozen canyons and passes throughout Colorado on the route. Lots of rain, dirt roads, tire hazards (4 inch nail in my brand new tire). We cut it one day short because of an impassable pass but still covered over 700 miles  [beer]

All in all a fun ride with lots to remember.

If this board hosted pics I'd post some... :-[

Races at Pueblo again this weekend.

Long ass ride to get down there.  (Why does it seem even longer going home on I-25  ???)

If I do ride down, I'll post up - meet either in Deckers of WP again?

anyone wanna ride this weekend??  whaddya mean it's too cold? hell when I was your age we used to pour rubbing alcohol on ourselves and ride around naked!!  not to mention the daily commute of 300 miles in snow,80 mphwind, uphill both ways, at night with no lights.. we were tuff I tell ya, not like you kids today, driving around in cars and such, whatever happened to real bikers??   I know I'm glad I grew out of that stage in life...keep warm, I think I'll fire up the XR and go for a spin.

Title: Re: ride this weekend ?

Wow, I feel like such a wuss.  I find the suffering involved in sub-40 degree riding interferes with the pleasure derived.  I don't have a fairing, heated grips,  or heated vest.  That might be part of it.  But I do need 600 more miles by Dec. 21st so if you are going to be out and about, give a shout.  If it gets above 40, I'll come out.

I can't say how many times some old fart would tell you about about how hardcore they were back in the day.Growing up in Alaska we did some stupid things for fun,but cold body parts arn't that much fun any more!!  Don't think We'll see much street riding before the 21st, but as soon as the weather breaks...   Snow riding on dirt bikes is still very fun when dressed for it [moto]

Hey KRJ, Butch and I are meeting at Monte's at 8:30 tomorrow morning, (Sunday) for a zip up to Deckers.  You and anyone else who see's this are welcome to make the run.  I have to work at 2PM and he wanted to be back in time for the 250 class (MotoGP) at 11AM.  Sorry, for the impromptu notice, but, hey, some of that NMMRness is creeping northward.  Pete's down in the hood this weekend so he won't make it, but the more the merrier for the rest of the SoCO DOGs!  We are heading out at 8:30 sharp, a concession I made since his original suggestion was to leave between 7AM and 7:15AM.   :o :o :o  Coffee will be located somewhere down the road.  If you miss the departure, catch up with us somewhere along that route.

So, Three of Us made the ride, and of Us, We know the fun and adventure that was had...We were thinking of the reasons why other Members are not in attendance ??  Being out of town, and Childbirth are obvious, employment is a good one...and I'm sure there are hundreds more. But all excuses aside, it would be nice to maybe see or hear from some of YOU a little more often, or even at all.  Let's get at least one more Ride in before Winter with more then three bikes.. And if not, some of Us will be having Fun actually RIDING. so make an effort and come out and ride, trip times and details to be decided by all, so Post up!!! nuff sed.

Hi, you all!  Is anyone riding tomorrow at all?  If the weather is wet and nasty, I will probably take a pass.  The Bronco's play at 11AM and I plan to be firmly enscounced on my couch at kickoff.  I have two fantasy football teams that I have to keep tabs on.  If the weather is fairly decent, I will be over for a cup of joe at Montague's at 9AM and maybe a quick blast up the pass.  Post up!

Oh, yeah!  I almost forgot!  Next weekend, we may have some company from the NMMR.  I am going to post the link Kawboy put on their board.  I will be working Saturday, but they will be rolling up along that route so if anyone wants to ride out to meet them, that would be awesome.  Next day I'm off, so more riding, a BBQ at my house, maybe some departing, and Monday, I am off again, so will be riding out with the stragglers for awhile along their return route.

Naturally, this is all dependent on the weather.  It's such a happy plan.  The angels are shrieking with laughter, I know.
Let me go snag the link.  I shall return!

Okay, here we go:

http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=29389.msg509807#msg509807 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=29389.msg509807#msg509807)

Anyone who can participate in any and all of this is welcome!  Including any of the Denver crew who may inadvertently wander onto our board.

Hey KRJ!  Yesterday was a really great time and the best part of it was that JJ did make it back safely.  Kawboy and I got a little rain between Pueblo and the Springs, but nothing big.  He just took off about an hour ago.  It was raining up here, but he researched the weather thoroughly and is convinced that it will start to clear by the bottom of Pueblo and get progressively better as he heads for the hood.  We had thought about doing the Deckers, Pine Junction, Breckinridge route, then down to Mt Princeton Hot Springs for a soak, then him on home through Salida, and me back across South Park, but saw it was snowing over there.  Even worse tomorrow so the trip ended a little earlier than expected.  I'm glad we got to do HWY 50 and La Veta Pass yesterday.  Hopefully there will still be some riding to be had.   I'll be down for more of Shannon's carmel brownies, or she can just send me the recipe.   [bow_down]  Enjoy your break from Trinidad.

What a beautiful day for a ride!  I have to work, but I imagine you guys are up there right now.  I would have rode to work but was asked to stay over tonight and be the night watchman.  If it's still like this tomorrow, I may take the Paladin for a spin.  Let me know how the road to Bishop's Castle is, maybe that's the route I will go tomorrow.  WSBK races to watch, too!

Hello KRJ,

I sure wasn't going to ride with all the carnage going on in this town on Saturday and Sunday. I guess if I could have gotten my bike trucked over the mountains to Woodland Park and places West I could have ridden.  I ride as long as there is no snow or ice on the road. I will be at Montigues if the weather is good enough.

Hey KRJ!  Sorry I missed your post or I would have at least tried to make it for coffee.  My folks were in town over the weekend so that was a pretty big deal.  They live in Minnesota.  I thought you were doing the Hood Thang!  I guess you got back okay?  Did you bring me any goodies this time from the gangsta's?  We got some exciting races coming up in a week or two.  I think it would be fun to get the gang together for them.  I have cable so all are welcome to watch at my place or we can come down and descend on you (weather permitting).  My biggest fear is that I will be scheduled to work on the 25th of October and I've already used up all my favors here at work.  I will slay anyone who even thinks about dropping a hint about pole position and qualifying wrecks, fast laps, etc.   I MEAN IT, Pete!!!!

Roger Copy, Bonfy I won't say anything about any of the races. I won't even mention what your boy Jorge Lorenzo's get up will be for the next race. We got a MotoGP race this weekend I believe at Phillip Island, Australia. This is probably the most scenic track. Go Casey and Nicky.

I'm working Saturday, but can go on Sunday.  There's a motogp race, but my DVR is set to catch MotoGP, WSBK, and AMA so I can slip away for a ride and watch the race later.  I will just be unreachable until I've watched it.  That will include cell, email, DMF, Facebook, text, and landline so don't even think about it.   >:(

Let me know, KRJ, what your plans are!  And anyone else!  I'll be happy to meet down at Montague's at 9AM or in Canon City.

Hey you all!  I just heard from JJ, remember him, (the threadbare-tire rider on the tricolore)?  He is running around Telluride tomorrow and said he would like to meet up with us.  I told him I would meet him in Gunnison between noon and 1PM.  So I will see you at Monte's at 9AM, then will be heading west either out Ute Pass or down through Salida, whichever route gives me the most miles with the gang.  Just keep that in mind for a possible route tomorrow morning.  P.S.  He has new rubber.   [moto]

Yup, it could not have been much better, and great pic's for our club public record. We just need more peeps to show up for these rides. We'll have more nice days, but can't count on the roads staying clear of sand much longer. For those venturing the Deckers/HP Hill/Pine Junction route, watch for sand/gravel starting to accumulate in the curves, we were seeing a little this past weekend.

Yes, it was a beautiful day.  I'm glad I got to ride with all of you.  Maybe we will be able to squeeze one more group ride in.  I can't get into the mindset of putting the bike away for the winter, but I will stay off the sandy twisties.  Back and forth to Canon City is going to happen for sure.

Sad news that I hate to share, but I got an email from a friend saying there was a fatal accident where we were just riding on Sunday. Apparently it occurred a little after 1pm, so we were well past where it happened. Makes me wonder if it was one of the young ladies in the parking lot when we made our stop in Deckers earlier in the day. Very sad though. Be careful on that road, it gets very busy on these nice days that are happening more rarely.

"A young woman was killed last Sunday afternoon while riding south on Hwy 67. She hit another rider who was braking hard then crashed into the guardrail on a long downhill section of the road between the scenic overlook and the general store. "

Pete said that when he was up there at 4PM on Sunday, they had the road closed due to a motorcycle accident involving two bikes and that there was a fatality.  I had been watching the news since Sunday night and trying to find more on it online, but no details were forthcoming.  Thank you for posting that, John.  I was really sad to hear about it and kind of in shock since we had just ridden through there a couple hours before.  While trying to wrap my mind around it, the questions were whether she was one of the sportsbike riders or on a cruiser.  It is alot clearer now as I followed some of the links on the website you posted.   :'(  RIP Sport Rider.

Finally managed to make it out Saturday afternoon. Gorgeous riding in the city... unfortunately by 4pm heading up to Woodland Park turned into a chilly ride as the temp dropped 20 degrees... Now I've developed a need for supplies. Any suggestions for local parts and supplies? I.e. best place locally for oil and oil filters or is online still going to be the best bet?

Smitch or KRJ need to jump in on this one.  I am physically unable to pass over the threshold of a Harley Davidson shop  [puke] so I get all my parts from PJ's in Albuquerque still.  My mechanical/maintenance issues are all handled by my son (Scottish on this board) who lives down there so I haven't had to look elsewhere since the shop on 21st Street merged with HD.  I would be heading for Fay Meyers in Denver if I needed something ASAP.  I have been able to get a few universal things from Apex.

I got out for a couple hours on sat. felt good to ride altho too cold and dirty to go far, Fremont county and D.O.T. are conserving the chloride de-icer so they sand the hell outta the place. Gonna take a while this spring to clear out.  as far as parts and pieces, I've been ordering all mine, if I'm in Denver I'll stop and grab stuff. I got the Monster out yesterday for some around town errands and that felt so good that I was going to do some more extensive miles on Saturday.  Dusty and I are going up to Denver tonight to the Erico shindig.  They are airing the Daytona 200.  We are going to carpool so depending if we actually make it back tonight, my riding departure time tomorrow will vary.  I assume when you say the trails, you mean the trails.  Not Hwy 50, right?  Because that was where I was thinking of going.  Down to Canon City, then out towards Salida, probably not all the way.   Maybe I will turn off and go south toward Westcliffe.  I love that Texas Creek area.   Is the road REALLY crappy or just kind of crappy?

Thinking about getting out today.  Won't be going towards Bishop's.

When are you going to come up this way?

Got out a little yesterday.  Coal Creek up to Wondervu was decent.  Sketchy from there down to Pinecliffe, then fairly clean the rest of the way to Blackhawk.

Got out a bit both friday and saturday, didn't have time to get to Bishops, made it to Wetmore. roads that way not bad at all. Saturday Shannon and I headed West towards Texas Creek around 1:30, encountered a car vs. Harley wreck just over the hill past Hwy 9. Looked like the car rearended the bike. no details yet. Proceeded on to find a lot of large rocks on the road and several wet, snow thawing spots in the shady areas. Turned around about halfway and played around CC area. will look for more info on the accident...

No worries, KRJ!  Was directed squarely at Bick.  [evil]

We are doing well.  Our dog has been keeping us quite busy, as has road biking for me this year.

See you guys soon!

Yes, sorry for the short notice.  It was one of those impromptu deals.  Kind of surprised that five people made it.  Hope no one is in the witness protection program because I am known as the camera hound.  Bring your ski mask if you are in hiding.  Here are some fun pictures:

what the scoop with the ride this weekend?

Title: Re: ride this weekend ?
Post by: bonfy on April 09, 2010, 03:12:46 PM
what the scoop with the ride this weekend?

Well, if you are referring to the SoCO DOGs kick-off ride, refer to the Mornings at Montague's pinned topic.  It's been in the works for a few weeks now.  Then it morphed into meeting up with some of the Denver crew.  The email and post says to meet at Monte's at 9:00AM Sunday morning.  I am still completely open to the route.  If Deckers and Pine Junction are clear (roadwise), we can meet you there at whatever time seems doable assuming we won't leave the coffee shop until 9:30 more or less.  If Deckers and the roads to and from are still crappy, that route we did last weekend (Hwy 105) was excellent.  Any suggestions anyone?   We should probably keep this one in the northerly direction for our Denver joiners.  Next ride, maybe Bishops Castle or Hwy 50 to Salida.

So in answer to your question, no plan yet past meeting up at Mont'es at 9AM.  Will post something Saturday night!  Hope you can make it!!   [moto]

I rode a little yesterday.  I was going to go up Ute Pass, but it was around 4:30 and all the RV's and boats were coming back down so I realized it wouldn't be as fun on the way out.  I went through the Garden of the Gods both ways and enjoyed that.   It was a beautiful day.  Maybe an after work ride is in order for this week.

It was a great weekend for riding, if you don't mind the occasional 60 mile an hour windgusts.  The SoCO DOGs had an impromptu get-together on Sunday which wound up being a good ride to Bishop's Castle and then back through Texas Creek with a stop in Canon City to see KRJ.  Check the Sunday Mornings at Montague's for pictures if you'd like.

Then yesterday, Dusty and I decided to ride down and check out the MRA races at PPIR.  We were extremely happy to find Scott (Munch) was racing that day, along with Peter, another acquaintance of Dusty's.  What a great day it was, mulling around the pits, watching race after race.  The wind was really kicking all day.

We ought to keep an eye on the schedule and get the gang together once in a while for these events.  It sure was fun running into new and old friends.

Here are some highlights from the day:

There is Munch with his bike:

Our bikes along with some new friends from Denver down to watch:

Stormin' Norman with his racing Monster:

This is the wind-blown look from the penthouse suite:

There is Munch in the line-up:

Here is a quick blip of him coming through the infield before hitting the straightaway:

Sweet vids!! Thanks again for coming out, it's awesome when friends come out n enjoy the day! We'll need to coordinate a better time of arrival so lunch is ready :)

I ran my first endurance that day. I think I convinced myself before the race I'd ikely not finish. Between the heat and the wind, it was tough :) Myleft ass cheek is still sore  ;D

From 36th on the grid, I managed a 21st place finish.

HPR in three weeks!

You were definitely putting in some hot laps out there.  God, it was a blast to watch.  Be sure to post up some info about HPR when the time gets here.  I am putting it on the calendar.  What a great destination for a ride (hint, hint SoCO DOGs)!  And Munch grills a mean cheeseburger (thanks for feeding us, or at least me).  Hope Peter did well in his race on Sunday.  We were going to stop back through after the ride to Bishop's Castle, but it got late on us.

Fighting hard to stay at work today, the Shop is empty as the Crew is working 4 / 10's in this slow economy, most other corporate employees have taken the day off. I'm sitting at My desk, doing some estimates, checking time sheets and job costing reports, thinking very strongly of gearing up for the Ride, hit the DMF site and confirm My lack of work Ethic.   I have a couple of parts to make for the KZ1000 Cafe' project, that could occupy My mind for a couple hours, than it would appear I have at least made an effort to stay at work...Ok, I will at least finish the weeks payroll reports and turn in time, then work on KZ parts till at least noon, then SCREW IT!!!....I'M RIDING.  Will be in the Springs about 1:30, if Anyone is up for a ride hollar....

Title: Re: ride this weekend ?
Post by: bonfy on June 04, 2010, 05:01:24 AM
I am planning to go.  I told Pete to post up his details on the board, what a slacker!  Let me go back and find the email.  I will do his light work.

Everyone is welcome to show up.  If you can make part or all of the ride, fantastic!  Bring your friends, cupcakes, grandma, whatever!  Hope to see you Sunday morning.   [moto]

Here is Pete's email:

Automezzi is June 6th in Denver.  I would like to meet at Starbucks at Shops at Briargate at 8:30am and leave to head up at  9am. We will not take 105 or whatever it is called to Denver because I think the Elephant Rock Bicycle race will be the same day. We hit that mess the last two years in a row. We can go up 83 to Franktown and then to Castle Rock then I-25 or 85  to Denver. We could come back on 105.  Open to lunch ideas.

For more info you can go to: http://automezzicolorado.nfshost.com/ (http://automezzicolorado.nfshost.com/)

I think it’s $5 for general admission.. the helicopter ride is not included.

We missed you KRJ.  We had 5 bikes - Mytduck, Bonfy, Mike and his brother in law, Jeremy, and myself.  Sort of missed the bicycles...we were going the opposite direction...with a 45 mph State Trooper escort...blah...

Good show.  Lots of Ducati's, new and old.  A few other odd bikes - Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Laverda.  Of course there were the non-entered bikes - ours and others.  Kind of a show outside the show.

We will still try to make DiTR, even if We have to drive the car, I'm a fast healer so I am optimistic for riding.   Any way, will still  be riding with My Ducati Brothers and Sisters, so take pictures for Me, and feel free to stop by the shop anytime. Thanks, KB

Was hoping to have visited ABQ by now, sounds like You are busy with a few projects and the cycling, very cool. I'll be into a bit of PT when things heal some, already walking about a half mile twice a day, damn near kills Me. Will keep in touch, as a trip down is still in order, cheers...

Definitely riding tomorrow morning...couple of ideas...quick(?) run up to Pine Jct. and back or loop through Divide, Guffey, Canon City.  If the latter, stop in to see KRJ.

Anyone interested meet me in the parking lot of the Safeway on Colorado Ave just west of 31 st Ave.  Plan to leave between 8 and 8:15.

Post up or show up.

Butch, I am debating on whether to make the run tomorrow with you.  Trying to save the miles for the trip to ABQ for the chain and sprocket replacement.  I already know that I am perfectly incapable of being anywhere on a Sunday by 8:15 so I am leaning toward not riding tomorrow.   Ride safe and try to be in before the races start unless you have them recorded.

I gotta ride with you guys eventually, but I'll be hiking 14er's saturday

Which ones did you do?  Beautiful day for it!  Hope you had a great time!

I'm still out of action for a couple months, had spine surgery Yesterday, will lose a bit more riding time but it's a small sacrifice to end years of pain. We will still try to make DiTR, even if We have to drive the car, I'm a fast healer so I am optimistic for riding.   Any way, will still  be riding with My Ducati Brothers and Sisters, so take pictures for Me, and feel free to stop by the shop anytime. Well I gotta take another pill and lay down for a while, hollar at Yoos soon.....Keith and Shannon   [thumbsup]

Hope you are feeling better every day.  Yikes, spine surgery sounds pretty intense.  Will see you and Shannon soon.

I'm up for it!  Where and when?  Do you want to meet a Monte's and make it a SoCO DOG run?  Anson got my chain and sprockets on last weekend.  That was a wet ride both going and coming.  It is a good thing I reserved some miles for that trip.  I definitely got my money out of that rear sprocket.  It goes into the Wall of Fame in my garage.   :-X

Hey KRJ, I just now saw your post.  I checked around 8AM this morning, but didn't see anything from anybody so I just went over to Monte's in hopes that some would show up.  Mike and Terry were already there rarin' to go so I didn't go in to get coffee.  If you left a message, it was not delivered.  So sorry!  We headed down to Canon City hoping we might catch up with you.  Of course, I didn't have your number in my phone and I didn't want to go by your house without a heads-up in case there was a reason you fell off the face of the earth.   [laugh]   Hope you got a ride in anyway.  We had a really sweet ride up Hwy 9 to Guffy.  Stopped at the Coffee Shop in Florissant.  The weather was perfect.

Had a nice ride, couple rain drops, no critters or idiots outstanding. Looking forward to Ouray, think about a departure time / place yet?

Cripple Creek loop may be shorter, but traffic may be an issue.

It was a perfect day to go for a ride in the mountains and check out the aspens.  It was great to see Christy and Campbell (sp?) at Montague's.  Sorry that KRJ had a head cold so he and Shannon didn't make it.

I caught up with the three Riggs brothers and Lisa in Pine Junction.  Headed toward Breckenridge now.  Guanella Pass was gorgeous.  The parking lot was packed with cagers viewing the aspens.

Hi All, Anyone get out and ride this weekend?, We had '70 deg. Fri. and Sat. here in Canon City. I took the Duc out for a while Fri. Just riding around local with a Friend, and the KZ cafe Yesterday riding to the Gorge, Florence, Wetmore and around town. Alot of crap on the roads, but that is to be expected, still had a good time, enjoying the difference between the two machines is an awsome experiance. Love the modern Ducati with beautiful handling etc.,But riding a 33 year old Jap litreBike, completely rebuilt period correct, with performance mods, really takes You back in time. It makes You remember all the old bikes You grew up with, some better than others, but all special in a certain way. Well gotta do chores Today, hope All had a good Weekend, Keith and Shannon

Saw the post from Randimus Maximus for Ouray.  I rode there two years ago, but with a different group (not Ducati), but the Million Dollar Highway was such a blast!

Is DiTR something more formal, like is sign-up required, etc?  Sorry, since I haven't been quite active yet with the Ducati riders in Southern CO, I am unfamiliar with most of the happenings throughout the year.  Would love to be enlightened, please!

Sarah

Sorry for the delayed response, damn work taking My time, for the most part, everyone I've met riding with the different groups are nice, easy going, informal, etc.   I have been around other riding groups that are very regimented and "Organized", with a bunch of bullshit rules and ceremonial crap... way too stuffy for the people I know!!     There are some guidelines, be considerate of others, proper gear and safety first, ride Your own ride but don't endanger/offend others, the normal riding rules. As far as an events schedule You will have to keep in touch... We try to get together every other weekend, sometimes someone will just thro' out a ride, ride times will form closer to spring.    The DiTR event is a gathering of riders from all over, Ducati dominated but all riders are welcome, there is no registeration that I am aware of, exept room accomadations. check on the MHM, NMMR, or the General forum for more info. This is a Must Do event, awsome People, good rides, beautiful country.  There are many options for lodging, but reserve a spot early, the place can fill up fast!, as You look around some rent a condo, motels, campground, vans, ask around and find what fits.  I have placed vacation leave and reserved a room, so I will be there again this year, riding out on Fri. the 12th.  Well I gotta start a fire in the shop and finish a project before work Tomorrow, can't wait till Spring, even tho' We had a very mild Winter.....Cheers

KRJ, thanks a ton for the helpful info!  I'm definitely not big on the organized "gangs" either (the ones that have official Presidents and Secretaries with badges and such), so I'm very glad to hear this is more informal.  As far as safety and everything else, this sounds like the typical ride I enjoy most!  I'll keep my eyes open on the SOCO DoG area and the DiTR one, too.

Looking forward to meeting everyone this season.

Awesome post, KRJ!  Aerofaze, I am sure looking forward to meeting up with you for some riding.  I think we should get together for the first WSBK race of the year on Feb 27th and then the MotoGP race of the year on March 20th.  I will be watching both at my house and all are welcome.  I am open to watching them elsewhere, also, if anyone has the urge to host one or we can go to a sportsbar.  If it is at my house, it will be the usual informal get-together.  I'll have some snacks on hand and you are welcome to bring libations of your choice.  As the time gets closer, we can post our preferences.  Also, I guess we should have a meeting and talk about what rides we want to do this season....or not.  I feel compelled to say something officious even though that is the furtherest thing from my mind right now.   [coffee]

Keith, I did get out on the bike a couple Friday's ago.  I had to register it in Colorado.  My DRAGN plates from New Mexico finally expired so I am now sporting the green and white.  So it was down to APEX to get the VIN inspection and then the DMV.  A small window in the frigid temps allowed me to get it done.  I also have all the parts I need now to make him pretty again.  Still need a front tire before I can roll with complete abandon.  Scottish will be up in the next week or so to help me out with that.  Hope to see you all soon!   [moto]

Hey Mike, did you and Teri go for a ride today?  I would have met you at Montague's if I had caught the post in time.  At least for coffee.  Still needing to get my front tire replaced before I go too far.  The last time I pushed a sketchy tire, I ended up on the side of the road near Ouray.  I'm still paying back the good kharma from that event.  Hope you had fun!

KRJ, I will give you a call when Scottish gets up here.  He is doing some work on my truck, too, so we will see whether a trip down to your garage will be possible.

This will be a great riding season!  Can't wait to get started!

Yes, Teri and I had coffee at 10:30, then we rode to Canon City had some lunch and came back to the Springs, it sure was nice out (windy of course) had a nice relaxing first ride of the year. Next Sunday we will have guests from NY and then the next 3 weekends after that my job will be interfering with riding (and life in general), so maybe we'll see ya in April.
I also will need some tires soon.

Bonfy, I've got the dates down on my calendar, so thank you for the invitation for WSBK and MotoGP watching!!!  Will let you know how the schedule looks as the dates loom closer.

Everyone's info here has been excellent.

The S.O. and I rode yesterday to Woodland Park and back to downtown COS, stopped at Montagues for some tea around 10:30-11AM, then headed up to Castle Rock for lunch then down to Palmer Lake.  Lots of gravel and melt-off in certain places, but it was windy only along the I-25 (we were on the interstate only very briefly) and US-24 corridors.

Sooooo....I am still plannning to watch the WSBK tomorrow.  Looks like SPEED channel will show Race 1 at 3PM and Race 2 at 4PM.  I have got to sleep in tomorrow after the last 6 days of 3AM start time at work.  I would be up for some riding in the afternoon before the race.  If anyone is interested, let me know.  We can find a sports bar that is showing the race or we can come back to my place.  I'll check in after I get up tomorrow.  Oops, I probably should check the weather to see if what's in store.

Yes, I rode to Bishop's Castle on March 19 with a bunch of other sportbikers.  The roads were gravelly in the sharper curves and at the intersections.  Otherwise, it was mostly clear except for one or two fist-sized rocks here and there when we rode by rockwalls.  Oh, and the wind was an issue that day as it pushed everyone around when leaning.

One in our group went down one the way out: the stop at the T-intersection at the end of CO165 with CO96 had lots of gravel and she slide into the road.

If my foot wasn't injured, I'd most likely be joining up with you to Bishop's or my usual group that's heading up to Deckers tomorrow.

My suggestion is to go at a moderate pace and take your time in the curves.  It'll be a beautiful day!!

Does anyone think we need reservations?  I know it's a Wednesday, but that place can get popular sometimes.

I was told Monday night that my new schedule is 6PM to 6:30AM now.  I was hoping to drop in for a bit when my in time was 8PM.  Sorry about that but I hope you guys have a fun get-together.  Where is Trinity anyway?  If it is anywhere near Garden of the Gods and Centenniel, maybe I can make an appearance before the gang disbands.

Bonfy, it IS at GoG and Centennial, basically.   ;D  You know that Chipotle right there?  Trinity is in the complex west of it.  You could show up a bit early and see if anyone's there yet (I may try to do so).

I PLAN to ride my red 696, and Jason (he's not on the forum yet) plans to ride his white Monster 796.

I'm so glad we finally got to meet some neat Ducati owners last night!  As the weather warms and schedules get ironed out, hopefully we can get some rides in together and grab KRJ in Canon City on the way.

Jim and Gloria, thanks for posting the photos!  So I should've just said "No," when Mike asked if I knew how to post pics in a forum.  Thought I did, but apparently not this one.

Anyway, I'm providing a link to my ALBUM (http://picasaweb.google.com/aeroDuc/DucsTrinity) until I get a tutorial.

Hi guys, I'm thinking I'll be riding a little more to the south this year. would love to meet up with some of you for rides.

Sweet!  Where are you heading down from?  A lot of the time, I like to head up to the canyons west of Boulder.

Title: Re: ride this weekend ?
Post by: flynbulldog on April 14, 2011, 01:11:43 PM
I'm near castle rock/ monument.

I want to avoid the northern canyons this year because they are too heavily patrolled.
Especially around Boulder and Gilpin County.
Not that I ride like a hooligan or anything I just want to have fun and avoid harassment.

Besides, I live down here just north of the springs - it's time to get to know the area a little better.

nope, right pinky toe, running through the apartment with my dog, kicked a box (we just moved). Toe was crooked, big time. Had to get it set.

but, its the right foot, dont know if i can get a shoe on though. so no riding for a little bit at least.

on a side note, got the rear shock clevis off a 1100 in the mail from speeddog today, super stoked about raising the bike a bit.  [thumbsup]

have fun tomorrow guys, take some pictures! [moto]

Well had a great ride  [moto], nice day, little bit breezy but when is the wind not blowing in Colorado?
Met some more nice folks, a couple of Duc riders too  ;D
We left Montagues and went up to Deckers, then on to Pine Junction, 285 to 470 to 85 down through Sedalia into Palmer Lake then we all went our seperate ways.
We will have to do it again soon, this time all you people reading this need to get out there and ride with us.

Stopped at Deckers from left to right, DarkDucs Monster, Taz's Gsxr 600, Butch's 900 Supersport, Zac's Triumph Tiger, and mikethebike427's ST3s

Wow, so sorry I missed this thread til today!  Looks like you had fun on the ride yesterday... We were riding with our ginormous group of 30+ mixed-brand bikes (most from Denver) from C470 to US285 to Pine, then Deckers and Woodland Park to home.

Maybe we saw each other and didn't realize it!

(but I have no desire to ride with a group of 30 riders  :P)

Yeah, 30+ riders is way too big a group.  That's what happens when it's called a Girls Only Ride: all the males come out to see who these rider chicks are.

Anyway, I'm definitely looking for anything smaller next time!  See you peeps out there.

Anybody riding this weekend? The weather looks good.... [moto]

A couple of ideas;

MRA racing at High Plains Raceway Sat and Sun $10 get you in for the entire weekend.

http://www.mra-racing.org/index.cfm?action=schedule (http://www.mra-racing.org/index.cfm?action=schedule)

Fay Myers is having KTM demo rides Sat. I know it's not a Duc but sometimes it good to check out the competition, besides they have lots of cool Duc's in there showroom to drool over and accessories in the parts dept.

http://www.faymyers.com/event_detail.asp?event=503876 (http://www.faymyers.com/event_detail.asp?event=503876)

If anybody like these ideas or has a better one then post up

dthomasr, would like to go for a ride with you, however I am camping in Buena Vista this weekend. If your out this way.....

Took my bike with me however, trial run for my new Moto Tote, getting ready for big trip to NY in June for my son's graduation.
I will try to make a run over Tennesse Pass to Vail to visit a friend on Saturday if the weather holds.

If you are available next weekend, planning a trip to PPIR to check out some Duc's race the in the MRA race series.
Maybe if DucatiTorrey prys open his wallet and springs for some cheap tires he can come along.....lol

Just kidding Jim....seriously though I just put a set of Michelin Pilot Road 3 tires on my Duc and have about 700 miles on them so far them seem like good tires, think Aerofaze runs Michelin Pilot Road 2's

Hey all,
I'm trying to find the flyers, but Automezzi 2011 is supposed to be this Sunday (June 5th) where we get to drool at all the pretty Italian machines!  (and Fiats...)  Mike and I are trying to figure out scheduling with the little one, but typically the DOGs meet up at the Starbucks at Briargate at 9am to head up north.  I think my brother Jeremy (900 monster) wants to go too.... maybe even get his wife out on her bike too!  [Dolph]

Yeah, Automezzi looks to be scheduled that way but I can't find any information either.  The website www.automezzicolorado.org (http://) is still from last year... so maybe, maybe not?

Late notice: Bike Night tonight!!  Hooters off Woodmen and I-25.  Sounds like Apex Motorsports will be there tonight to do giveaway drawings of fun items!

Last time they had dedicated parking for riders.

Jason and I will be there at 7pm.  I believe several other types of bikes and riders are showing up, too, so if you don't mind the mixed bag, come on out!

Hope you SoCODOGs get out and ride this weekend.  [Dolph]
My wife and I are camping this weekend in Buena Vista.
Friday after noon rode from the Springs to BV, set up camp then shot over Independence Pass to Aspen.

The aspens still have color, the weather was fantastic and the riding was epic.....so get out if you can before the snow gets here.

Saturday began with a 25 mile mountain bike ride in the hills behind the campground.

Then took the ST3 up to Cottonwood pass.

Again the scenery and riding were fantastic.

Thinking about how I can take the long way home this afternoon...... [Dolph]

Sunday, and I took the long way home.  [Dolph]

1st over Tennessee Pass.

Then over Vail Pass, no photo as sign is not in a good place to get a photo, besides it's under 10,000.

Then over Hoosier Pass.

Then Wilkerson Pass, again no photo, another under 10,000, then of course Ute pass, enough said.

It was a long day...but great weather, hope some of you made it out there.

Forgot to mention the best part of my day at the races......
I got to do some laps around the track during the lunch break.
They asked for $5 and the the Bondurant pace car took us around and when we came to the front straight he took us up to about 85 mph  [thumbsup]
But the best part came when the pace car let us go at lap 3 then we took it up over 100 mph for the next 4 laps  ;D
Best $5 I ever spent  [Dolph]

Trying to get this topic going again.
Next week the Ducati X Diavel Tour is coming to Denver.
The tour will be at Bandimere Fri, Sat, and Sun May 6-8, 2016.
They will be doing test rides  [Dolph] and if you sign up you get a limited edition t-shirt. ;D
Go to Fay Myers website to RSVP. http://www.faymyers.com/event_list.asp (http://www.faymyers.com/event_list.asp)
I have Fri the 6th off of work and will likely ride one of my bikes up to the event.
There are many fine eateries and watering holes in the area to enjoy afterward making this more than a test ride.  [coffee]   [drink]  [wine]  [bacon]
If anybody is interested post up and we we can set up times and a meeting location and make this happen.

Well nobody posted up to go to the X Diavel Test Ride at Bandimere, so I went with the wife.

[Dolph] on up and did the 11 am test ride, a nice 35 min loop up in the canyons west of Morrison.

BTW these bike can be ridden two up however these were pre-production models and the passenger backrest could not be mounted and their insurance would not allow two up riding without the back rest. Bummer! My wife was a good sport and hung out in the typical Ducati lounge one would expect at these sort of gigs.

Pre-Ride Jitters! Notice the forward controls and the belt drive.

The X Diavels wait while the riders get a safety briefing.

Not to bad looking, this bike was the S model selling for north of $20K

Can we get going already?

The test ride went well, my opinion of the bike is as follows.
First the bike is approx 156 hp set up in the touring mode, which is how it was set up.
It had great acceleration as you would expect.
The handle bars seemed to transmit a good deal of vibration to my hands which were tingling in the first few minutes of the ride.
The bike handled ok, not what I am used to riding my ST3 or Multistrada. the brakes of course were awesome.
The bike had cruise control, self canceling turn signals, an urban riding mode (~100 hp and tuned differently) and some sort of launch control mentioned during the safety brief, and we were told we would not be using these features. I tried to change the mode while stopped in traffic going through Morrison with no success, guess I am not a techie. I did figure out the self canceling turn signals....oh yeah there was nothing to figure out there...duh.
The forward positioned controls were very comfortable, however I could see the seating position causing back issues on longer rides.
Overall it was a positive experience.
Would I shell out $20k + for one?
Not a chance, I am still a cheap bastard.
But great first attempt at a cruiser style bike for Ducati.  [clap]

Well if you want to test ride this bike they will be there Sat and Sun 9 to 5 Bandimere speedway at gate B.

Went to the Fay Myers block party with the wife.
The stunt shows were good, the free Famous Dave's BBQ was good, the other freebies were good.
the people watching was good, saw lots of Duc's including the new Multistrada Enduro....
