I had it done at a Valvoline Oil Change- where i have been going for the last year since I moved up here. It was $69 for the full synthetic. Seems a bit steep- but I guess its the same as 2 - $35 dino oil changes. I am guessing the Acura dealer would have charged me between $80-$100 (plus the wait time).

I have just about 6k on the car right now. I'd say I broke it in pretty well. Its got a great sound when you push the pedal down- although not as nice as the sound of the Cayenne. (I had perma grin for about 30 minutes after test driving the V8 model). Not that I would ever have the ability to drive it like the pros- but they say it out-performed the Cayenne V6 and Audi Q7 on the track.

Yea, I'd be finding another dealership.

I use Rotella 15W-40 in the Monster
Quaker State liquid dinosaur goes in the '08 Impala & the '02 Dakota and gets changed out around 3,000 miles regardless of what that stupid dash computer says in the Impala.
Castrol GTX High-mileage goes in the Taurus w/ 176,000 miles

Oil related problems?  ZERO

Any brand mentioned in a owner's manual is purely there because the maker paid for it to be.....

Good point.  Mobil One is good stuff, tho.

Not sure what you paid for it, but  you shoulda gave the V8 Touareg some thought. The thing is a beast. I love it (although it's the wife's car)...

FYI, Toureg & Porsche Cayenne are based on the same platform.  Suspension on the Cayenne is specific to the Porsche due to it's ability to lean into corners, etc.

So those saying yes to synthetic.....why?
What's the non-anecdotal proof that it's better?
I install aftermarket gauges in all of our work vehicles, on the idea that you need to know what the engine/trans is doing BEFORE it blows up. Engine temp, trans temp, and engine oil pressure.
I was offered a deal on Amsoil products by a rep about 5 years ago, and put their synthetic fluids in all of our vehicles.
In our 2000 Dodge van, the engine temps went down 10 degrees, and oil pressure went up by @5 lbs. I was told that this was due to reduced friction.
In our 1997 Dodge Diesel, the transmission temps went from 175-180 to 155-160 in summer, under load.
Made me a believer.
