Someone was going to do this to a 1098 sooner or later

while we are whining and complaining about what others choose to do....

the 512 (testarossa) is often not considered a "real rari" by enthusiasts. its what yuppies buy when they ebay ferrari and sort by lowest price!!

now if you said 355 [drool]

(erm, i would be happy with any ferrari for the record)

You lost me, if you can afford a 1098... why do you necessarily also have enough money to buy a 2nd bike? Why are you necessarily guaranteed to have room to store a 2nd bike? Why do you necessarily have spousal permission?

Testarossa cost substantially more than the 18 or so for a 1098, but you are again assuming the testarossa rider has a trailer? What if you are going on a great long ride through the twisties to your favorite lunch place, a scenic overlook, and you packed a picnic? Must the rider sacrifice the fun of a superbike because he wanted to eat lunch? Rather than buy lunch?

i hear you bro, but i just can't see carrying lunch if i'm riding the sbk.  like i said, ppl may differ, but if you need bags, get a different bike.

i don't have much sympathy for ppl who's spouse won't "let" them have another bike, i just can't get there.  everything is negotiable in life, you won't convince me on that... :D

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

i understand why you'd wanna have bags, but if you need them, why would you put them on a superbike?

if you can afford a 1098, then buy a second bike, like a monster or mts 620 and put them on..  you won't look quite as confused.

its' sort of like putting a trailer hitch on your testarossa

I have a 1098 and can not afford a second bike neither would i waste the money on a second one since i can only ride 1 at a time.  Just because i can afford a 1098 does not mean i can afford a 2nd bike.  Now if i never bought the 1098 and got a CBR instead than 2 bikes would be a reality.  I regularly ride with a cortech sport tailbag for almost anything.  Especially on a sunday ride considering some of those trips can be 500miles or more.  I don't see the big deal about the bags if you wanted to take your bike cross country it is a great idea.  I want to ride mine cross country at one point personally and see this as a viable option that actually looks REALLY good.

And, after the cross country ride, you could, the next weekend, do a trackday on the bike, and have a lot of fun. Whereas the fun might be significantly less on a Sport-Tourer.

I can't imagine doing a cross-country on a bike designed for the track.. the ergos would kill me.  I can ride an sbk for a few hours, then need to stop for a while -- not conducive to cross country riding.

maybe you can put fringe bags on it too, that would really drive home the point..

Whee! You just never know what will get this board rockin'.  [laugh]
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

anyone know how that Gary Eagan guy did with the 1098 at the cannonball?
i couldnt find any results online.
Favorite convo i read on this board
"PICS OR IT DIDNT HAPPEN"
"F**K U IT HAPPENED"

Suzuki Blvd M109R " Sliver " = assassinated by cager
PW 696 " Pearl " = traded in
M1100 " Loki " = Viking God of mischief ( Goddess in this case )
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty pristine body, but rather to come in sliding sideways all used up screaming F*CK YEAH WHAT A RDIE!!

You'd hate this then... Shampoo, body wash, shave soap... all in one... And, does them all well. Fits well for the "locker room" use.

;D

I don't know what got everybody all bend out of shape.  I am still pissed about the all-in-one cleaner.

Granted on the 1098 you do stop every 100miles or so due to the range which is about a 10minute break to gas up, but i really don't find an issue riding it all day.  The next day i'm spent though....and no i will not put bags with fringes on my bike thats just silly!

Maybe that should be the prize a week of trackdays in california when you make it there!

And some are wearing a giant wall of plastic. Don't fool yourself, a superbike is not a semi-faired, frame on display supersport.

SS or half-faired would be akin to "topless," i.e. completely naked in an area.

And I donno where you're looking, but I see a lot of red on this bike. ;)

Dood - you gotta check it out. It's the perfect thing for shipboard use. Having to travel to and from the shower area, it helps to bring the minimum required. Plus, I can keep a spare bottle in my rack and not have to keep spare shave cream, shampoo, soap, and conditioner (although, I admit, I don't really use conditioner). It really does work well. And, at less than $5 a bottle, it doesn't put much of a dent in the wallet. I pick mine up from drugstore.com (they deliver to FPO addresses).

Yeah, I guess sailors do like to stay pretty for each other.   [evil]

We were issued a bar of no-name soap for body and hair (what little you had).  If you spent more than 3 minutes in the shower, everyone assumed you were jerking off or trolling.
