Someone was going to do this to a 1098 sooner or later

Not to pick on you but.....do you have a better suggestion for a porsche to go to the track with track rubber?

I don't like to go to work but I still do.  I don't like sports cars with trailers but it doesn't mean they can't do it. :)  I do a lot of things I don't like but I still do them.  Wash dishes, pick up my dogs poop, eat my vegetable, or look at a beautiful superbike being turned into a pack mule.  But by all means, if it floats your boat, do it.  I am just saying it's not my cup of tea.

I guess what I did wrong was "voicing my opinion on a free forum".  How ironic.

More fuel capacity and some upright ergos and it'd be the perfect ST. Oh wait? I said that in another thread.

That's ace!   I'm looking for Monster 696 bags.  Commonwealth has them.  For a set, they are $681! [bang]

All I was saying was the bags aren't my cup of tea.  That doesn't make me close minded...  does it?  I don't really like the color pink, don't like the taste of eggplants, don't care for the Hummer and Toyota line of cars.  Am I close minded?

Sorry, I don't love the 1098 with bags on them...  Just as I don't love sports cars with trailers...

Point taken...but I didn't mean close minded about everything, just this. Just seemed that people were being very rigid in how bikes should be used is all.

My comment wasn't meant to give people a hard time for their opinions...it was only my opinion anyway.  ;)

I don't think it looks all that bad. I wouldn't do it, but, i can't afford a 1098. So it's a moot point for me.

To each his own..........

True...  I would have say that I tend to want things divided up nicely in their own buckets.  Shampoo cleans and conditioner conditions.  And when you have the Head & Shoulders that does neither well, I get fired up.  Nevertheless, the saddle bags are very well made and look great with the 1098.  Just not what I would do if I have a sport bike.

You'd hate this then... Shampoo, body wash, shave soap... all in one... And, does them all well. Fits well for the "locker room" use.

;D

But, back to the bike, I like it. It's redesigned for the rider's desire. Which, is what we all do to our own bikes. Whether it's bling, function, or performance. I do like being able to turn my monster into something a bit more functional and am always looking for ideas. I don't see how owning a superbike would be any different. If that's what someone wants to do with their bike, so be it. It actually flows pretty well.

And, for the Porsche, very functional. I like it.

no sir.  i don't like it at all.  its like putting a supermodel in baggy sweats - you can still see her face and know she's hot - but the best parts are covered up.

I never understood all the drooling over sportbikes.  You don't see anything but a wall of plastic.

Some bikes are naked. Some bikes are wearing lingerie. ;)

...some are wearing lingerie and a hoop skirt. ???

Wow...we have some close minded people around here. I love the bags. Not for everyday ofcourse but add those, the larger tank, and a set of heli bars (~3K total) and your impractical SBK just turned into a bad ass sport tourer. Hells yeah!!  [thumbsup]

i agree, and i just want to say i love your multi~~~!!! moar pics plz! [edit: more pics by clicking his profile. very very interesting thread]

me: "those multis really are quite unique, arent they?"
guy at duc shop: "they are so ugly!"
me: "....you have no imagination..."

glad someone [a lot of people apparently] has already done what i dream of when im browsing the ducati inventory

And some are wearing a giant wall of plastic. Don't fool yourself, a superbike is not a semi-faired, frame on display supersport.

i understand why you'd wanna have bags, but if you need them, why would you put them on a superbike?

if you can afford a 1098, then buy a second bike, like a monster or mts 620 and put them on..  you won't look quite as confused.

its' sort of like putting a trailer hitch on your testarossa

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

You lost me, if you can afford a 1098... why do you necessarily also have enough money to buy a 2nd bike? Why are you necessarily guaranteed to have room to store a 2nd bike? Why do you necessarily have spousal permission?

Testarossa cost substantially more than the 18 or so for a 1098, but you are again assuming the testarossa rider has a trailer? What if you are going on a great long ride through the twisties to your favorite lunch place, a scenic overlook, and you packed a picnic? Must the rider sacrifice the fun of a superbike because he wanted to eat lunch? Rather than buy lunch?
