Comcast BLOWS. Everyone I know who has them or had them in the past hate them. I really haven't met anyone who has anything good to say about them.

I hate them as much as I hate Comcast. They both are terrible, provide a horrible service fraught with digital gremlins, and generalliy piss me off a few times a week. They act like they are doing me a favor by charging me a fortune for piss poor service. They are lucky I'm forced to use them, or I'd be on FiOS or U-Verse in a heartbeat. If only my apt. complex had connection.

At my previous resdence, I had access to Huxley Communications Fiber to Home. Voice, Data, Digital TV...one fiber optic line. 5 computers on and downloading various things/uploading various other things and speeds wouldn't drop at all.
And the great part...HuxComm is a Co-op so even rate changes are voted  on. I miss them so much. Now I have to suckle at Qwest's teet until I can find a house back in HuxComm's area...

Get your cancelation in writing.

When I moved last the new area was covered under Charter, so I turned in the equipment and told them to cancel services.  They sent bills for the old location for three months post cancelation and even sent it to collections even though I told them after each new bill that I had canceled.  They finally say they've fix the "computer error."  Twelve months later Comcast buys out Charter in my area (great) and the dumbmake the beast with two backss still showed my account as delinquent when I called to switch my Charter account over.

I wouldn't trust AT&T U-Verse.

We have them currently and what a make the beast with two backsing mess it has been.

My wife called to downgrade our service (as they changed the pricing) and gave her a confirmation number to confirm a promotional pricing that brought us back down to our original "honeymoon" contract.

Well, we get the next bill and it is the same.

We relay to them the confirmation number and they tell us they don't give confirmation numbers...........

long story short......

in the words of Demo Dick Marcinko:

"make the beast with two backs the mothermake the beast with two backser's before they make the beast with two backsing make the beast with two backs you"

we still have them, but cheaper than Time Warner (only other option in our area)

Read the fine print.

You can get AT&T (locally, not sure about everywhere) for $20/month for basic DSL service and no price jump.

You need a phone line, though.

Add that to the cost.

I hate Comcast.  HATE them.  When I was in Albuquerque a few years ago, I signed up with them for internet service (I don't have a TV).  The guy comes out and says that he has to install a special cable modem and will be right back with it.  He had me go ahead and sign a zillion page form stating that I gave permission, etc.  Long story short, dude doesn't come back.  I have no cable.  I called Comcast repeatedly over the course of several months to complain, and they kept telling me that I had service, blah blah.  I finally got a lady on the phone who was sympathetic and cancelled the "so called" service and agreed to refund the charges and gave me a case number.  By this time, I had long since caved and bought internet from Sprint with a laptop card thingie.

Fast forward...I don't get any more bills from Comcast. I think it's over and done.  I move.  A few months later I get a letter from collections from Comcast for a cable modem and service.  I called Comcast first, and of course they don't recognize my case number or the customer service agent's name.  The charge is still on my credit report, and I have disputed it repeatedly.  Yes, I could just pay the $400-whatever dollars, but I refuse on principal.  Bastards.  And yeah, I know in retrospect that I should never have signed the paperwork.  The maintenance guy at my apartment complex said that Comcast subcontracts out to random yahoos who do this and then hook their friends up with free cable.

Actually, they have dedicated DSL (no phone service required) now.  It is about $5 more a month than adding it to an existing line.  In fact, that is what I am on right now.

I don't know about COMCAST, but Insight was terrible.  That is why I now have AT&T.

He Man

you think you have it bad, inmagine having a leech on your line. you might as well not have internet.
