To drop $300k on a depreciating assets you have to be either A) Really Dumb or B) Really Wealthy.  Given that he was 20, I'll assume A.

Kids do things like that all the time in the DC area. my friend's parents now have over 20 lambos, porches  and MBZ's because their son keeps buying them when new models come out....its disgusting
