The battery I have now has lasted about 4 years. It still cranks but doesn't want to light the engine, so its time for a new one. The only issue Ive had with it, is its about a centimeter or so too high and causes the positive battery terminal  to rub on the seat pan. How is the fit on the Shorai?

Never mind. It appears that they don't make one for a 2000 Monster.

 Sure they do! They are smaller than the stock ones, and come with foam pieces to shim them into the battery box. You need to check the conversion tables, but several different models will work.

Yo MD;

You need the Shorai LFX18A1-BS12, that's the recommendation directly from the Shorai rep I worked with. The very best deal you'll find is here:

Using coupon code FACEBOOK11 for an addition $17 off, $153 out the door with free shipping.

I recently got one of these for my 2000 750 as well and really recommend it -- although I went with the LFX18L1-BS12 so I didn't have to swap the -/+ terminal setup the bike has. Amazing kick for such a little and light battery. Out of the package I thought it was joke... I was way wrong.

I have had an LFX 18 on my S2R 800 for 3 years now. No issues.

250 grams lighter again at 750gms.. Light is right.

The older 900s seem to need the bigger LFX 18 battery to help with the old starter ratio I guess. I had a 14 in my high comp M900, and it started it ok, but the 18 worked easier. Especially after a few squirts of the accelerator pump in winter.
I put the 14 in the Gixxer track bike. With no lights its topped up always at 14.8 max Volts.

Remember that cold here is about 20°C/72°F . . .

I originally had the 14 in my 900-swapped M750. Worked fine until I...did something dumb and fried it. When I contacted Shorai for a warranty replacement they upgraded me to the 18 at their behest (and cost). They were fantastic to deal with. Sent me the replacement right away with a return label for the 14...I didn't actually tell them what I'd done either. So I would say the 14 is fine. Motowheels actually recommends the 14.

the thing was that the 14 was "having" issues in 'colder' weather so they started recommending the 18 and took the 14 out of the list for Ducati . . .

I don't have any real cold temps here (started the bike from a non heated garage on a 35 degree F morning a few times and no issues. I've have the battery for over a year with not a single problem. Would recommend it over and over.
