getting started ,, after swap

a harness short is possible , dreading that thought .  have two harnesses ,, 1 , first did same thing ,, so I installed the other after ,,, and still . as I've checked other component ,- relay , solenoid ect. ,, narrowing it down to something like you've said . looking at possibly making a new harness , of the two , but not sure how hard that is . I know it would take awhile though . hoping still I might find that "simple " , overlooked solution .

Any chance of getting a photo of the left side of the engine in the bike?

Look to make sure you have all your engine grounds attached. To test run a good size ground wire from the negative terminal to the engine cases, hit the button and see if it turns over. if it does you are missing a ground somewhere.
