I read once that if you're an hour late for work, then you probably have a good excuse. 15 minutes late and it's just poor planning and lack of effort. It's too bad, but maybe now he'll use this as motivation to do better on his ext job.

ive done management at two different jobs, and i loved it.  once i was the "standing" manager at a journeys shoe store in the mall because our store manager left and we didnt have a assistant so i just took over and they recognized me for it and gave me the raise.  we had one girl that i would schedule whenever was best for her (like i did with everyone) and she never could seem to come in.  she had another job in the mall and would say "i cant come in today" and go work the other job.  we tried to fire her and the upper management called and asked me why and said i couldnt fire her.  i wanted her gone so bad but i couldnt do anything about it.  after i got fired (long story) she ended up managing the store and then moving to a bigger store in dallas.

i never got to fire anyone at the other job no matter how bad they needed it.

Yeah that dude was stealing payroll for two weeks and you felt bad? He actively sought ways to fool you into thinking he was doing his work and you still felt bad? It's one thing to be lazy or even to lack the integrity to work for your pay, but this guy worked at decieving you.  >:( I'd say buh-bye  [coffee]

Hard to separate that people you like can do shitty things.

He didn't want to work.  You set him free to find another avocation where he'd be happier....

I've fired 3 people. All 3 times it sucked. One was a friend that worked for me when I had my first business. Technically, he was laid off as we didn't have enough work to keep him anymore. We're still friends.

2nd one was just plain lazy and didn't do his job. Part of the job involved breaking down empty plant displays at national home improvement store garden centers, so they could be picked up and re-used. He wasn't doing his, he just kept letting them build up behind the store. I was tied up in another state at the time and he was sending his work reports as complete. The store manager (who never bothered to call anyone about it) finally had enough and personally broke down and hauled about 75 of them to the dump in his pickup truck. Cost our company almost $26K to replace them, as they belonged to a 3rd party. After 2 weeks of trying to make contact, I had to leave him a "you're fired" voicemail on his cell phone. Not the best way to fire someone, but it worked.

I fired my dad in anger, about 2 years ago. I let him come back after a week and much intervention/mediation by the family. You guessed it, I'm an asshole.

We have a relationship like the Teutul's from OCC, except the roles are reversed. I'm the boss at our company....and the resident angry screaming douchebag.

Long story short, I had endured enough of his bullshit that day and told him so. Things escalated from there and after about 20 minutes of arguing, he got in my face and tried to get me to hit him. I'm not that guy, so he drug Mom into the conversation and started talking shit on her to try and get me even madder. I told him to pack his shit up and GTFO.

I've fired four people. They deserved it, it didn't bother me in the slightest.

I had to fire a friend I hired 6 months ago to do accounts receivable and general office type work.  Warned her 3-4 times about sloppy work and showing up 15-30 minutes late regularly.  Once she started causing us to lose a couple customers I had to get rid of her.  Pretty much sucked though.

One co-worker was fired a couple of years ago after many people complained about his gross incompetence...it was my complaint that was the final straw. :-\

He then tried to sue the company for wrongful termination, claiming racial discrimination [roll].   I had to make a couple of statements and get interviewed, but it got dismissed.

I fired my son. We had to transport trim from one site to another. I told him to put the trim on the roof rack of the van, then we drove to the site. We're almost there, and I had to stop suddenly. The trim flew everywhere.

I asked him why he didn't tie it down and he said " I'm just not a tie-down kinda guy"

I told him he wasn't an employed kinda guy either, GTFO!

At my old firm, one of the interns was fired after he was busted masturbating in one of the partner's office.

She (the partner) was quite a hottie.  No one is clear what he was looking at on her PC tho.  Having his drawers around his ankles and gripping his dick was enough.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
