Don't be surprised that within 18 months or so, you are going to see more radical 696's (1100's as well) like this one or even wilder...

I know of a few underway currently and one that is planned here.  Grin

Glad to see it being displayed at MotoGP Indy!  Hopefully it stops raining and somebody gets a chance to take a few more good quality pictures.

Is it really accurate to call this a heavily modded 696? It seems as thought the only parts they kept are the frame, tank and headlight. When you replace the engine, complete front end, complete rear end with what appears to be 1098 parts, then it might be more accurate to call it a heavily modded 1098.

As opposed to a number of bikes here? At what point do you become not a monster?

Thats kinds cool.

It addresses all the things I hate about the 696.

IMO one of the worst styling points of the 696 is the way the exhaust from the horizontal cyclinder is routed. The exhaust on this is very cool.

Also, it's hard to argue with an Ohlins equiped bike.  waytogo

The only thing that would turn me off about that bike would be stock seat and the way it crushes your manhood. Anyone have an aftermarket seat on their 696 yet?

There is also an accessorized 696 on display with "sharpie" grafitti art on the tanks drawn by Roland Sands. Very cool!  Grin

I will take some pics tomorrow.

Other then the frame/tank/headlight...not a 696.

And, yes, just brake tech iron rotors that haven't been used yet.

Cool though.

I don't like the looks of the 696 at all.

And as cool as that bike looks in pictures, it looks even better in person.

And the rear rotor is also iron and has part of the black finish worn off.

And it's a 996 motor.

I'll take some pics tomorrow for you all.

how would one achieve that polished sub frame look? is it a ton of buffing and polishing? or is it a re-paint?

i was looking at it, and the only way i think is to take the bike apart, which i'm sure they did in this case since it's a new engine.
but i bet some sort of beadblasting/polish to make it smooth then powdercoating?

IF I were to take my bike apart, which i won't... i would do the rear subframe, and the swingarm both like that. maybe even modify the swingarm and cut out those indentations and reinforce the inside.

Raux... thanks.

I have decided to pick up a 696 after some hard thought and what not... should get in december. I was thinking of the same mods... polishing the sub-frame & swing arm, and chopping the metal piece that holds the rear pegs. I found a cheap place to powder coat parts... so I am interested in seeing what I can take off and coat... I am also hoping i can black out the exhaust pipe exiting the engine. all and all... should be a work intensive winter.
