The wife and I were going out for date night and Bambi decided to run in to the car. Its a nearly new '09 Toyota Matrix with 4,000 miles on it. The crap part about it is that the deer got up and ran away!!!

It's sad really. I wonder what goes on out in the woods that makes doe-eyed young......well........doe want to throw themselves into the path of oncoming vehicles to their deaths?

silvy1200

that could of been ugly on the bike, glad you're ok!

those suckers pop out of nowhere! i hit 2 in '06 in a total of about 7 months, one in missouri and the other in iowa. the iowa ones are fat and stupid, just about totaled my company suburban.

my office gave me deer whistlers for the new truck  [roll]

It's mating season (the rut) for deer now so they will be running around more then usual trying to get a piece of a$$ so everyone needs to be extra careful this time of year.

So it would've been better if it died or was injured?  I guess a free meal out of the deal might not be such a bad consolation prize.

At least he'd get something out of it.  [roll]

I hit one in my favorite car ever. Totaled the car...broke the deer's back. The couple that stopped to see if I was OK found it a bit disconcerting when I walked over to the deer and stuck a knife through the base of it's skull.
They seemed to ease a little bit when i explained to the that the deer was paralyzed and had I not done that, it would have just suffered.

The sausage wasn't bad but lost about half the meat to trauma.  :(

That is by far the manliest thing I've heard in a while.   ;D

Do be careful everyone.  Deer season around here is almost as bad as Christmas for most locations.  Our stores get busy.  Hunters come in from everywhere (I'm in Central/ North Missouri) and the deer loose their minds for about a month and a half.  About 2 weeks from now the deer carcass count on the highways will be through the roof.  I can honestly say if I ever tag one on the bike and am able to get up afterwards, that son of a pregnant dog is gonna feed me for a while.

Ok, I really need to move.  That rant was much more hillbilly-esque than I'm used to.

Had a doe jump out in front of me on the bike two weeks ago.  i was headed up Independence Pass going about 30, I hit the brakes and just barely missed it - it was so close I could have touched her as we passed.  FREAKED me out!!

Had the same thing happen to me about a month ago, except I was on my bicycle (going about 35 down Mt. Tam).  Fishtailed like crazy but managed to (barely) stop in time.  It was broad daylight, middle of the afternoon.
