Is the "maint" msg that flashes telling me something is wrong?  my bike currently has 1,400 miles.  I was under the impression that the only thing that will cause it to come up is the mileage but please tell me if otherwise.

Not helpful.

corpthug-according to my manual, mileage is the only thing that sets it off.

Mine went on at 600 for the first inspection.  I did the inspection myself and turned it off.

???

corpthug, my understanding is the same as yours that it's mileage based.  You say you have 1400 miles.  When did it start flashing MAINT?  It should start around 600 miles.  And is it reading miles or km?

Did you reset it at 600 miles?

My MAINT message came on at 600, and 6000 miles.  '06 S2R 1000.

I had my service a little before 600 and therefor saw the "maint" msg come up afterwards; I thought it would just go away.  Is there a way I can reset it?

What kind of bike is it?

I just did this the other day...if its an S*R, push the left button on the gauge display and hold it in while turning the key to "on."  Keep it pushed in until the the message disappears.

...or it might be the right button.  :P

When posting in the Tech section, it's almost always helpful to specify what year and model bike you have if it isn't already listed in your sig-line.

And just to add to what everyone else has said, the only time I ever saw that message on my old S4 was at 12,000 miles.

Off topic and pointless to this thread. Thanks for trying though, seriously.

Anyway, depending on the bike, some are user resettable and some aren't. My 696 apparently is only resettable by a Ducati dealer, and they want to charge $25 to do it. I am just leaving mine on until my next maintenance is due.

Is this according to the owner's manual, or did your dealer tell you this?
