I am trading in my Ex-Earth (XTERRA) and looking at 4 Runners now. Any one have one? Good/Bad opinions? They have 0% for 60 months on the '08 models now. Nice. And we get the employee discount because my wife used to work at the dealer. We need a family truckster, otherwise I really dig the FJ Cruiser.

I have an '06. Great vehicle. Not a single problem but that's normal for Toyota's.

Expensive though. Even with the deals you are getting you can get a new Ford/Chevy/Dodge for thousands less. My 4runner is a lease (work writeoff) and gets turned in January. Kind of a shame, only has 28K miles. I could buy it for 22 or get a brand new american truck with zero miles for less.

they're worth it if you plan on keeping it forever. If not, just buy American.

Toyota trucks are damn near indestructible

+1.....'cept worth it even if you don't plan on keeping it forever-resale is awesome on these things.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

you know what, you're right. I miss my land cruiser every day. Thing was 20 years old and still turned more heads and gave me more smiles than anything else on 4 wheels

I have an '08 FJ (and previous to that I had an '05 tacoma) and it rules.  Toyota trucks/SUVs are the only option in my book (if you're buying a truck/SUV) - sorry Garrett ;)

my fianceé's '99 tacoma is being bought back by toyota in a huge recall... frame rot.
he thought he'd have it forever... sadly, the truck is mint other than that.

they are giving him 1.5 times the resale value

Welp....at least they take care of their customers, no?

I am sure the 4 runners are much better for the envio than the xterras.  Cough cough  [roll]

I have an xterra now, and it is so so - some design quality issues in the little stuff, like weather striping, window rattles, roof rack screws, etc.  I might look at a 4 runner for the next vehicle, assuming gas isn't at  $8/g.

The other option is a Pathfinder. I am going to take a look at them this weekend. I figure since we are over on the miles for the lease, they might give me a better deal to get another Nissan...
What really got my interest is the Trailblazer SS and the SRT-8 Grand Cherokee. Those sound like they would be a hoot to drive, but I wonder if they would be practical for a Minnesota winter...

I have 95k+ on my 4Runner (bought new in '01).  It has been great.  Zero problems.  Best quality vehicle I've owned by far.  I plan on keeping it until it dies, hopefully at least 250k miles.  It is a little small for the family, but not enough to make me trade it in.

+1 on resale value.  I bought mine new because I just couldn't save all that much money buying one used it seemed.

I did think they uglified it a bit when they last changed the styling.

Another +1 for Toyota Trucks/SUVs.  I got a Tacoma (Double Cab & Longbed) and don't regret it one bit.  Actually getting decent MPG on it too, ~20mpg mix highway/city

I don't ever plan on getting rid of it.  My sister has an 01 4Runner and if that thing has survived her for the past 7 years, it's indestructible in my book.  [thumbsup]
